In case it gets lost on the other thread.

We need a message for the card to go on Ken's flowers.

I'm also looking to get on eof those Heritage brick things. We're allowed 20 characters to be engraved (spaces don't count as characters). "Ken Dixon - In the Know" is 18 characters if the - is included. Is this okay, or is there a desire to have dates in which case "Ken Dixon ITK 1955-2001" is 20, does anyone know whether he is 1955, or 1956 if this is the preferred option.

I like the simplcity, and slight mystery, of the first one, but the second one is more complete.

I like the In The Know option....

Okay, flowers.

B&W posy, style of which can be seen on posies costs £30 plus £4 delivery.

A full B&W football, with flowers all around, and various, delicate, difficult construction works is £85 + same delivery.

Difficult call !

It is a difficult call....i'm assuming that we're gonna have enough for the brick and a donation anyway but I guess we've got to ask ourselves whether the extra 55 quid for the preferred choice of flowers is really worth it.....after all it could be an extra 55 quid for the donation.....

I've got cheques for £175 with more promised, brick is £50, flowers are either £34 or £89 leaving, at the moment, either £91 or £36 for charity. It really depends on other monies coming in.

I've got 48 hours to reply to Interflora so I'll decide on Friday morning. But everyone please speak up.

Flowers are nice, but I think the bulk of our efforts should be more substantial. So I'd favour the less expensive flowers and the majority of the money going to the named charitable organisation. The brick thing is a great idea, and I think the In The Know is preferable.

I'm undecided....I still like the idea of really really nice bunch of flowers but I know it's not really important cos they won't last....

Macbeth,

Can you please email me your address so I can send my contribution to you (I take it you are organising this?).

As for the plans of what to do, I'll leave that to those who knew Ken more than I.

Wonkey, Mac's address in on the Flowers for Ken thread...

Cheque in the post today. I prefer less on flowers as they don't last. In The Know brick option suits me fine.

Macbeth,

For me, the brick is important. I assume the family have said they're accepting flowers - sometimes they say donations instead of. I probably lean towards the expensive flowers because they're more personal, and we all probably donate to charity separately anyway, but I honestly don't mind.

Cheque in post. A modest bouquet, a brick and the remainder to charity.

The brick and a small, but respectable bunch of flowers.

What about this - something ITK would have loved. Let's donate the rest to NUFC on the understanding that the money is ONLY to be used to help bring in a new player. Get the newspapers involved, get people talking about it. If they sign dross demand that ITK's money is NOT used but is saved for a 'more deserving' player.

Now THAT'S something he would love - still causing controversy from the other side...

I think he'd prefer a large bouquet spelling out SMB :-)

Brick - In the Know

Flowers/Donation - I love the idea of the black and white football, but it is only fleeting thing whereas money to heart research does a lot more good for longer. So I'd rather see more of the money go to charity, and a less elaborate floral display. But I'm fine with whatever the majority decides.

cheque is in the post. Great idea about the brick, and I like the idea of the football shaped flower arrangement however I agree that maybe the majority of money should go to the heart charity, suppose it depends how much we collect.

Cheque on it's way.

I like the "In The Know" brick

I like the idea of the B&W ball and flowers but really do thing the more modest posie with more money going to Mrs Ken's preferred charity is the correct and longer lasting thing to do.

I love the idea of the 'In The Know' brick.

Flowers - I vote to go for the smaller floral display and the majority of the money to the heart charity.

Yep - I agree with Yelli. Modest flowers - brick with the `In the Know` option - remainder to charity.

Agree with the above - modest flowers; max to BHF.

Frankly, my donation was towards the flowers/BHF only. I'd be more than happy to make a separate contribution to the Toon Brick as a longer-term memorial to wor ITK.

My recommendation would be to use all the current collection for the flowers/charity, and after the funeral to ask for a fiver from 10 bbsers for the Brick.

To be honest, if we collect enough for two bricks I'd like to volunteer to put them to good use at SJP! In fact I'll buy the 2nd one. ;-{)

Mac, Deffo a brick , modest flowers, can I suggest and it means a wee bit more work for you, if any money left or send more if needed, buy a presentation Album to insert all the messages received , suitably inscribed ie `In memory of Ken from his friends on the ITK BB`s`, in years to comethings like this pass down thro the family. Alexander Dubcheck on its way

Thanks Buff, I agree with the idea of an album. I'll go and see what there is available.
