You know, they should just let you take the exam. That is totally uncool, as far as I am concerned. That you should reschedule because your professor had some kind of problem. I know this is just logic and not how it works in academia. I am sure when you are a prof you will be more considerate. I guess you can't really help jury duty but I don't see why you should be penalized.
Why can't you do it like next week? or something?
I've been waiting for this to be over so you'll update some more. its unfair to us!

Yeah, I pretty much got screwed, but there's not much I can do.

I got an e-mail last night saying that the guy who has jury duty definitely won't be able to make it, so I have to reschedule. I was rather upset to hear this news.

I'm hoping to know by later this morning if I can reschedule for next week...

i feel like you've been left at the altar. but worse, because the torture is prolonged...

Well, maybe it's not quite as bad as being left at the altar, because I know I'll still get "married." I just don't know when...

But yeah, this whole thing has been really horrible. I think the worst part is that I keep getting tossed these rays of hope (like that I could go ahead with 3 people, or that I could get a substitute, or that the guy would be done with his jury duty) and then they keep getting yanked away from me.

Aw, Jen this bites. I hope you get rescheduled soon. Nice to have you back, though. Hang in there.

Jen, I hope everything works out okay with your orals -- uh, since it's now Friday morning I guess by now things have either worked or have been postponed. Okay, so retroactively wishing you well...

I say, get really hammered and go in there, swearing at them and waving a sheaf of notes, demanding a degree.

but that's just me.

so what's up jen? what happenned? when will it happen? did you get really drunk this weekend?

Oh, congrats! (May 31 entry)

You're a braver woman than I am, Gunga Din. I swear, half the reason I'm going to the UK for graduate school is so I can avoid things like comprehensive exams. *breaks out in hives at the mere thought*

Now stop reading the forum and go study. Then come back on Monday and tell us how you aced 'em.
