The biggest advantage to the Canon line of battery packs (BP- whatever) is the use of other batteries besides the CR5 or 2CR5. I have a BP-50 for my Elan IIE and I use rechargeable NiMH AA's. I have saved so much money in batteries. I also have 16 1600Mah AA NiMH for my EOS 3 and PB-E1. Very economical.

Also, the BP-200 utilizes a shutter release in the vertical shooting position.

eBay has one too.

They also make holding larger lenses easier. Try using a Rebel with an 80-200 f/2.8 lens; not fun.

Advantages of the BP200 for Rebel 2000:

The BP200 adds size to a relatively small camera body making it much easier to handle.

The BP200 uses easily attainable and inexpensive AA batteries - you can get these batteries anywhere.

The BP200 has a vertical shutter release making vertical orientation easier to shoot. This button can be disabled.

The BP200 is inexpensive.

Buy it.
