I have to do an assignment in French class on the theme and meaning of "King Pest". I am having difficulty understanding it in English, let alone in French. Could anyone enlighten me by summarizing this short story. I would be indebted as there is little information available on this tale. Thanks.

There are these two sailors who drink from a pub, then are unable to pay for it so they run. Being drunk they run right into one of the sections of the town cordoned off because the plague had spread in it. There they find a curious group getting drunk on the abandoned wine left in a shop..........
