Bobby come to the meeting, I have a lit of my top targets, I just you need to sanction them:

Bellamy, That Turkish Defender Blerk and a 31 yr old who's struggling to warm teh Barcelona bench - do you trust his judgement?

I didn't think Rivaldo was as old as that ;-)

Dave,

If, as the Board, you don't trust the Manager's judgement on players then he would have to go FULL STOP.
This is a very straightforward matter - you cannot retain in employment someone in BR's position, and at the same time say you don't trust his judgement on something so fundamental to his performance achievement as the ability of football players.

Chill Mr C. All I think DlF was asking is whether you think YBR has lost his marbles (assuming these are his targets). Personally, I'd wait until I saw the list. I'm sure he'd like better - but if the board have only given him limited funds, then he may decide enough's enough. But I think he will do better than Bellamy, the "Gallatasaray Fella" and the Barca Bench-boy (whoever that may be - Guardiola?? He'd be OK).

My calm answer still stands Mr P.

Bellamy for a summer transfer..please tell me your having a laugh!

You're spot on Clarky but given the so-called targets of the past & the success of those we've landed, should the board simply sanction a £15-20m transfer kitty & trust Bobby's judgement or would we say let me know who are your men, leave the rest to us. If I was in charge of the purse & saw Bellamy's name at £6-8m I'd opt for the latter and come back to Bobby with a well rehersed speach about talks falling through.

I have a horrible feeling Bellamy will be Bobbys big buy. My Cov mates hate him with Venom, they have nothing good to say about him at all.

I've heard Bobby's good friend Brian Hamilton talking about Bellamy and apparently he has an attitude and willingness to learn that all players should have.

At Cov he was playing in a shit team with no decent partners up front and it was noticeable that when Hartson came in the pressure was off Bellamy and he prospered. I wouldn't be surprised if we sign him in the summer, I only hope it is not for £6 million.

Perhaps a part exchange?

come on d-b, Hamilton was selling him...

he was awful for Cov, my mates dead honest and would never criticise without really thinking about it. In fact I've never heard him slag a player before. Bellamy, please god, no.

This was this year (2001) a long time after he had sold him. A dogged determined little bugger who was always asking why he was being asked to play in such a way instead of just accepting it without learning.

Matty reckons he has no control, gets caught in blind alleys and moans too much. come on mate, you can't be serious. 2mil maybe

more, no

db,come on you are kidding

Swift,

I am one who has faith in Robson's signings. He has been hindered by shopping in the Pound shop but he has bought good players who give their all.

If he decided he wanted Bellamy last season I'm willing to believe the lad would be a success in the right team. We shouldn't dwell on his performances for Coventry. Robson, Hamilton and Mark Hughes all rate him highly and they are/were all international managers, so he must have something.

Coventry would have to accept something in the region of £3million to make it a very good deal for us.

Brrr! Just the name 'Bellamy' makes me shrudder!

-- Anonymous, May 22, 2001

Yep, I never got a handle on his nature programmes either. But Lenny Henry made a career out of impersonating him!

DB,

If Bellamy is a knacker then whether we pay £1mm or £10mm for him he would still be a knacker.
Frankly, I'm not sure about him. As you suggest, he seems to be well thought of within the game, but whenever I've seen him, either live or on telly, he has looked like a complete knacker.
