Canon EOS500N shutter tough to press down

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I have a Canon EOS500N. It has been with me for about a year now. When I got it, the shutter button was easy to press down. Recently, the shutter button became so tough to hard down. I must exert quite an effort just to press down the shutter problem. The exposure is correct. Even if I shot outdoor under normal daytime light conditions, I still get the same shutter problem. At first I thought the the exposure was incorrect so the camera was trying to prevent me from making the shot but it seems that the shutter buttons has just gone defective on me. Anybody experience this problem?

I had a similar problem with my A2, but it was on the flash connection. Turns out I bumped it so I had to have it sent in for repair. It worked fine after the part was replaced.

Maybe the mechanicals are in need of repair in the button assembly due to an inadvertant bump. I have no idea what happened to my camera which caused the problem. The flash simply wouldn't slip onto the hot shoe any more.

In any case, I don't think what you're experiencing is "normal". You may want to get it checked by an authorized Canon repair shop.
