What are the major differences, ie: the differing features, of the EOS 500 and the EOS 300?

The EOS 500 (Rebel X in North America) was an upgrade to the EOS 1000. It had three AF sensors & a 1 frame per second motor. It also used an evaluative metering system with partial metering when you used the AE Lock button. It was offered with a built in flash (EOS 500f/Rebel XS) or without (EOS 500/Rebel X).

It was upgraded to the EOS 500N/Rebel G and flash was included on all of them. The control layout was a bit different and it offered E-TTL flash metering with Flash Exposure Lock & high speed sync. Otherwise it was about the same.

The EOS 300/Rebel 2000 also uses the E-TTL flash metering system but add 4 more AF sensors and shoots at 1.5 fps.
