So despite being ahead of their 5 year plan there is still a disagreement. Another manager looking for funds that Board can't deliver.

Makes Bobby's willingness to see the job through all the more commendable. Would Royle and Redknapp have stayed at the Toon!

Who generally has a club's long term interests more at heart? A manager or the board/owners? Might not be the popular answer, but I suspect it's more often than not the latter. Perhaps Bobby is an exception, because of his Toon connections. Perhaps that also explains why he is more tolerant of the Board than others? Or am I being too much of a Board apologist?

did well at city, not much thought going into things over the penines

It appears that Royle was in fact sacked. I think the disagreement surrounds several of his backroom staff whom the Board wanted rid off.
