Answers

I actually went to the gym this morning. Kick ass.

This made me laugh: http://jessamyn.diary-x.com/?entry=200105131041

I have to go drop off the iBook in a minute, and then go to stupid DeSoto. Why, God? Why?

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Is the iBook having trouble, too?

AB, what saint did you upset to get this bad computer karma? When will the new iMac arrive?

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Yeah, still no An Bei for this MATHlete. (I didn't check at home, however.)

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Saint Ass-Computer? The Greek God Computor?

I don't know--no, the iBook is not really having problems, I just can't get it to connect to the cable modem. It may be either, though, which is why Hugo, my "Mac servicer" (hee) asked me to bring it in. Bleh.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

I wonder if, when they changed servers, some crazy firewall thing happened, H? That sucks. I can get in fine.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

I can get into AB fine, no problem. Actually, the firewall might be why H and Al are having problems - they couldn't get into my old domain from work, either.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Hmmmm. Bastards, all of them. They said they were changing servers, but they didn't say people wouldn't be able to get in.

H, I'm going to e-mail you the page. I am too impatient to wait for it to work.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

See, T - yours used to say no DNS entry. LIke, that address doesn't even exist. AB's says connect failed, which means the server is down.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Ooh, that make me crazy! I don't think Al can get in still, either.

T, if you're running IE5 or above, bookmark my index page and check out what happens. I'm such a dork.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Gaah! AB! I love it! So cool.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

I know! There's some crazy program I found that lets you make the icons, and then you just upload them, and voila! Fabulousness.

I'll be back later, babies. Must go work and all.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Oh, y'all, can we talk about last night's Law & Order, just for a minute? Because even though, according to Chris, their law was bad (the reasons why the judge initially dismissed the case weren't valid), the Jamie Ross/Abbie Carmichael smackdown filled me with glee.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

There was a Ross/Carmichael smackdown? Fiz-nuck! I can't believe I missed it!

Damn that Allen Iverson. I was having to watch him kick Toronto's ass. Mike, are you excited he got MVP? I am. Allen Iverson is my favorite NBA thug.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Allen Iverson is my favorite NBA thug.

I can only hope Latrell didn't hear that.

Oh the Ross/ Carmichal smackdown... how I loved it.

I love that damn show. Usually, their law is pretty good, isn't it? I mean, really it used to be. Back in the Ben Stone days, when life was good.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Um, because see, Latrell's not a thug. Latrell is, as we all know, sweetness and light, and also, likes to read metafiction. Don't you know nothin', girl?

Iverson, on the other hand, is all thug, all the time. Hot.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

I wanna be able to bookmark AB's index page. What happens?!?

Internet!!

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Apparently, there law is nearly always good - that's why C loves the show as much as he does. He disagreed with their basis for dismissing the testimony of the guidance counselor - he felt that because a threat was made, there was probably cause (or something).

What a psycho little bastard, though.

But the smackdown. Classic. That was such a great episode. And my sweet McCoy. Such tact. Love him.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Y'all, could I be more overly fond of the comma? I think I used eighty-nine in that sentence about Latrell.

I can't leave y'all! Okay, I'm going. Go!

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Probable, I mean. I'm not that dim.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

So. Anna Beth sent me a great FAQ question. (Is that redundant?)

AB - it might be my server who's blocking me, because now it's giving me connect failed to sitemeter and mail.yahoo.com.

Damn!

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Yahoo asses like that on me all the time. Between my work e-mail and my yahoo mail, I can pretty much not send any e-mail and feel confident that it got there.

AB, I love how you've forgotten that Latrell used to choke and/ or spit on everybody. I mean, I loved him anyway, but he has seen his share of thug life.

"Probably Cause" is very funny.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

I swear.

I'm signed up on the Turner job board to be notified whenever a position is available. They send me e-mail every day - which makes me curious as to their turnover rate - but half of them are for Tape Operator jobs. People. I do not know how, nor do I desire to do that shit.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

I'm hopeing it's just yahoo assing, because if I was blocked, I'd be getting a blocked message. I'm just getting connect failed.

Al - no tape operator. Turner would be a cool place to work, though, I think. T - doesn't Hadley work there?

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Did y'all get my mullet haiku email?

I think that turnover at Turner is high, but for various reasons.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Yeah, I got back in. Yahoo was assing.

I love the word ass.

You know, if any of y'all are feeling crazy or so-inclined, the Vegas Double Hannah Birthday Extravaganza is definitely on. Tickets and rooms have been booked. It should be a good 3 days of drunkeness and flamingo pool lounging.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Nope, no mullet haiku.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

L_L!!

Is Mike on nights??

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Right on cue. Heh.

I'm actually off these next two days. I'm here trying to a.) get this Europeon trip planned and b.) get this date planned. Of course, all I'm doing now is futzing around, but my intentions are good.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Mayn! Yahoo mail is assing again.

Who are you going to Europe with again?

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Three friends. Or, rather, one very good friend from college, and two girls I know only slightly.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Ooh la la - will it be gender-even?

What are you thinking for the date? Any ideas at all?

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Could someone go to mail.yahoo.com and tell me if it's assing for you too? Hate!

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

It will be gender-even, but there's a zero (0) percent chance that this will result in any FOX sitcom-worthy hijinks.

I'm thinking dinner. Just not sure where. I wish I didn't work Saturday morning ... there's a lot going on in the afternoon, but not much special at night.

All that would mean is that, if there's a next date, I'll have to be more creative.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Mike - why? I mean, I'd be totally fine with dinner and hanging out and being casual. Dial back the pressure. I don't think dates need to be EVENTS.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Absolutely.

Well, Mike, as you know, I'm no expert on dining in DC/NoVa. All the places I've been have been good, though. There was L'Auberge Chez Francois, and this seafod place on Georgia Avenue, and the Public House in Old Town, and a place called Bullfeather's, but I think we just drank there.

You know, you've given Chris a lot of baseball advice - maybe you could email him and hs could give you some creative dating in DC/NoVa advice in return.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Why must my IE be ass?

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

It's not that I feel pressure to impress with my creativeness... it's just a first (second?) date. It's a self-imposed thing ... I feel like all I do is dinner-type stuff, and don't want to get stuck in a rut.

I actually was just at Bullfeathers, and we saw a big fight outside there. It was like being at Fells Point.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

H makes a good point, though - dinner dates do equal less pressure. However, if the dinner adte goes really well, it might be nice to have a secret agenda. Like, if you're loving speiding time with her, you could say, "Hey! Let's go to X!" and then she'll think you're all spontaneous.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

God. I have got to learn to type. Or be a better proofreader. Or something.

Mike - I think you told me about that fight.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

T, you are a genius, in case you didn't know that already.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

"Dear Boyfriend,
KEEP. YOUR. DAMN. CELL. PHONE. ON. YOU. I'm not kidding this time. We're not paying $80 bucks a month for the damn thing to reside on your desk at work. We're paying that much money so that we can get in touch with each other when we're AWAY from our desks. See how that works? I know, it's a strange concept to you, carrying around that little phone in your damn jeans pocket, but for cryin' out loud, can you make an attempt? I've been trying to get ahold of you all morning!

Frustrated beyond belief,
Leigha"

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

See how desperate I am? I'll even quote flaya to avoid the pitifulness of L_L-hood.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

About the secret plan thing? Thanks.

Y'all, Pineapple loooves me. Such flattery. It's great.

And now, I find out that my car will cost, like $300 to fix. When some petard installed the cd-changer, they cut some alarm wires that ultimately shorted and ultimately fried my ignition switch. Fuuuuuuuck.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Poor Fancy!!

T - did you write Pineapple back?

The fact that Leigha has been 1. dating her 22 year old boyfriend for a year and 2. living with him for oh, a YEAR is enough proof that she's clazy.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

No - I'm going to write her back this afternoon.

Flaya is crazy and tacky. Poor Flaya.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

...And after reading Flaya's journal, I have a feeling that she and her Miek are not long for this world. I mean, she's 22. What's wrong with not having kids until you're 30?

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Because all her friends from the trailer park already have grandkids.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Yeah, I think I'm breaking up with her soon.

Heh. That always throws me for a loop when she mentions him by name. Someone else does that as well on Dear So-and-So, and I always want to be a smartass and respond.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

She just lacks a realistic view. What are a few years in terms of her life's happiness? It goes to show how much she has to learn, is what.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

I just got a hit for sexy halloween sluts

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

Hee! That's hysterical.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

It's never going to stop raining here. Ever.

-- Anonymous, May 17, 2001

God, We haven't had rain in a while. I wish it would come down here.
