Good ol' Prescott eh? I think the guy's an arse but I'm glad he had a pop at the egg-throwing tosser.

Jabber the hut from now on ;-)

The idiot news reporters claimed it was a left hook.... definitely a straight jab. Pity he didn't get more of his weight behind it

get thee to any news site (BBC has a video clip). Prescott was walking through a crowd (of about 10 people) when a bloke whacked an egg in the side of his head from about 6 inches, Jabba turned and issued a straight left jab to the guy's chin.... bloke then grapples with Jabber and wrestles him on his back against a wall... police arrest the tosser .... err thrower.

wonderful bit of television. Have to wonder how the Israeli security forces would have reacted to the same action from a Palestinian.

I prefer the though of him being "Prince Nasser Prescott".

I think fair play to him as well.....don't really like the tosser much but definitely fair play....

I can't help thinking that if it had been two ordinary blokes then they would both have been hauled off and nicked for affray.

What's happening to democracy in this country when you can't throw a peaceful egg in protest without getting chinned then nicked? Bring back the stocks on the village green I say then we can take turns chucking refuse at our local MP.

Wonder what happened when wee Willie used to have his 14 pint sessions, do you reckon Blair would make him go to a cash point machine and give him £100 ?

Well I reckon the election hustings should be one big fight, and I'll vote for the last one standing. No holds barred, anything goes, biting, gouging the lot. Straw, Cook, Portillo and Blair will all be out in the first 10 seconds but Hague might last a bit longer with his judo. I can see a titanic final struggle between Widdecombe, Prescott and Redwood (the evil magician) - probably Widdecombe there until Martin Bell rides in on his white charger brandishing the Sword of Truth and cuts her down like a rabid dog. If only...

I've someone had lobbed an egg from about 10 yards, fair enough - 'legitimate' protest you could say. But throwing an egg from less than a foot away is OTT if not dangerous so Prescott's reaction is somewhat understandable and can't see it losing him too many votes. As Gav says, fair play to him. You need to take situations into your own hands some of the time, rather than wimp out behing a nanny state facade where someone else does your dirty work.

At first I thought it was a PR disaster, but it could end up working well for Prescott.

I thought it was a fair reaction given the circumstances - but when he was so obviously involved in the fracas why was JP not brought in for questioning by the coppers? The egg thrower looked like a prize twat too...must have got a shock after looking so smug

Same thought occured to me macbeth, you can just see little Willy, hands twitching impotently as Prescott's profile rises: "Well after I used to drink 14 pints I regularly got into brawls with longshoremen, I just didn't feel like talking about it."

From 6" it could have been a brick, knife , anything , methinks one from Edwina`s arsenal laced with salmonella , well done Prescott, can you imagine Portfolios reaction, toss of heed , hoighty toighty like, run fingers thro mane and mince off stage left.
