Police Face Bounty For Their Lives

(KFWB) --

Street gangs in the neighborhood covered by the Los Angeles Police Departments Rampart Division have placed a bounty on injuring or killing officers.

There is a $10,000 incentive for injuring an officer, and $25,000 for killing one, police said.

The threats were discovered more than two weeks ago. Officers continue their patrols, but are told to be on high alert.

Police say they have a duty to serve the area's 350,000 residents and will not be intimidated. Such threats have reportedly been made in the past, police said.
