HELP! WE ARE NEW AT THIS. WE HAVE A HEREFORD COW, WHO WE HAD INSEMINATED-THE VET SAID WE CAUGHT HER IN TIME... BUT HOW DO WE KNOW IF IT TOOK OR NOT? WHEN CAN WE TELL AND WHAT DO WE LOOK FOR?

The vet can come out later--don't know the exact time frame on this-- and palpate her uterus to see if she is pregnant. At the risk of getting criticized for recommending a vet, he is your best bet on this.

Is she one who is very vocal when in heat ? If so what for the next heat .

Don't know about cattle, but they use ultra sound on horses.

Count twenty one days. If she shows no signs of heat there is a good chance she is pregnant. If you want to be sure, the vet can check her - however many say you need to wait at least 60 days to avoid endangering the pregnancy, some say wait 4 months.
