How would you spend £20 m?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Suposing that B R has £20 million, how many players of what quality should he go for. The £20 million includes a few million from the sale of the likes of other players such as Marcelino / speed /Barton but not any big money from the likes of Solano or Dyer.

What can you get with your money and who do you sugest?

£3m = David Prutton from Forest £4m = Seth Johnson from Derby £5m = Bridges from Leeds £3m = Jansen from Blackburn £5m = Decent established left back --------- £20m = I would consider well spent.

Hey Wonkey, that lot would cost £50 million.

I would like Matt Jansen, to play on the left wing. Reckon he would be £8 Million , the same amount I'd spend on Micheal Bridges to partner either Cort or Shearer upfront, I'd then cheat and sell Solano for £6 million giving me £10 million to pay for Carrick. Lee / Acuna or even Dabizas would be my defensive midfielder and Dyer would be my right winger. I'd stick with the defence we have for now, as I've no spare money to buy a central defender. Mind you the way my three man attacking midfield would score goals, we'd be back to the Keegan days of scoring one more than the oposition home or away.

I was taking into consideration the reformed transfer policy that will be introduced at the end of this season, whatever that may be. Plus, Jansen and Bridges are Geordies so would probably like to come back and play for their boy-hood club. Prutton is going to leave Forest this summer and is another 'Dyer' type player in that no-one's prepared to take a risk on him as he's 'untested in the Premiership', what did Taggart say? "He's not worth the £6m Newcastle paid" Ha, how I laugh now. Johnson would be glad just to play for a club that doesn't start their relegation battle every August (hmmm, maybe not them ;O)). And as for the unknown left back, well he's unknown thus far so would jump at the chance to play for a Premier League club. ;O)

Failing that, just give Bobby the £50m it probably would take!

basically we are looking at bargains again.

someone mentioned Viera and Petit as bargains when they went to Arse.

i think we are looking at cheap foreigners.

personally i´d rather buy cheap geordies than cheap foreigners...

Would Barca really sell Overmars for £8m considering they paid £25m for him? Quite a loss for a player that's only been there one season.

For £20m, I would spend it on no more than 3 decent players, maybe keep a couple of million if there are some good backup players we need.

I would put £8m in for Gronkjaer (left winger) of Chelsea, who is world class but on the bench.

Bridges for £10m would be a nice little buy and the rest can be for a left back, with maybe Solano as bait (Dyer is right winger in my team)

Ya, Grönkjaer and Bridges I should also go for. Maybe also Prutton if we get him for like £3M. Thats £21M, but I'm a better negotiatior then Paul so I would get Bridges for £8M and spend the rest on a new sports car.

I'd gan on a really good holiday, buy a lovely house in Gosforth, a cottage in Northumberland and a pied a terre in London, New York and Paris. Then I'd retire and spend my life doing good works for charities by day and partying hard by night. I'l probably me mam back all the money I owe her..
