Stephen Glass

Surely Robson should have made his mind up now. Next season we should really have some cover for the left wing slot. If Robson intends to buy a left winger in the summer I can't see Glass wanting to be back up to the new fella.

Or if Robson gets no money to spend will Glass be the man? Worrying

"I know all about Wayne Quinn but I just wanted to have a look at Stephen Glass and see what standard he is playing at now," said Robson. "Following his performance we have to make some sort of decision on his future and so does he. "I've had a good look at him, I've watched how he dealt with Arsenal and I thought he did fine."

'fine'....hmmm...doesn't seem to me to be glowing praise. I know he's been injured a lot, but he hasn't exactly impressed Bobby has he? It's a strange one, for someone that has shown glimpses of real ability, and he doesn't seem to be an off the rails party animal sort either. Where did it all go wrong?

Just doesn't really seem to have the fire in the belly.

No fire in the belly? Perhaps he should be invited to a BBS curry might? ;-)
He doesn't seem to be the most confident person in the world, does he. Is he best pals with anyone else in the squad or a bit of a loner?

Difficult for him. Got signed by Dalglish just before he walked the plank but got 16 starts under Gullit after making a real impression in the reserves. He had become pretty much a fixture until he got his leg broken at SJP and got carried off to a standing ovation. By the time he got over the injury he was stuck playing left back in the reserves. Say what you like about Gullit but he was always bringing players in from the reserves when they played well. Bobby has only given Gavilan a couple of chances, brought Caldwell in during an injury crisis and the same with Ameobi. Robson gave Glass 3 chances last season and doubled that this season. Extraordinary.

All the more confusing to see Bonvin not given an opportunity when he has fared so well in the reserves. Especially when he can play on the left flank.

Is Tommy Craig still the reserve team manager? Not been the best of seasons for the reserves, hence perhaps the limited opportunities for 'promotion'. It's the kids that have impressed most, so it'll be interesting next sesaon if some of them play regularly in the reserves - which would of course mean a clear out of a few reserve team players.

I think the problem with the reserves was that it was mainly made up of players that would normally be in the under 19's . They weren't really ready in many cases to play against second string seniors. That also would explain why the under 19s didn't do so well, they were the second string under 19s.

Interesting piece of management by YBR last night, I thought. Playing Glass as a decoy,ie getting him on the pitch but telling people not to pass to him, no matter how much space he was standing in. Fooled me. Also which rule is it that says we only pass the ball to a player who is marked by two, or, preferably, three opponents especially when Glass is standing in acres of space. Also, Barton was splendid last night. So was Gallacher. Can't be @resed to put that on the right thread, and sell Speed if he carries on moaning. Rant over. Out for the count.

Good point Tony, if you watch Speed closely he is unable although left sided to adjust his body shape to bring anyone outside him (Glass) into play, couple that with Hughes at left back , watching Carragher bringing Murphy into play last night (NOT) is an example. This is the reason why most of UTD` play goes down the right
