Problems Creating VCD's with Easy Creator 5

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have edited several hours of vacation digital video down to two one hour files. Each file have several chapters. These files were all edited using Ulead Video Studio 5. To burn them I use Easy CD Creator 5. Whats happening is I set up Easy creator with the chapters in the order i want them on the CD but upon completion (burning) the chapters are out of order and others just don't get burned. ie: there missing on the new CD. It's driving me nuts trying to figure out why. Any answers PLEASE!! Thank you Phyllis

Stop using Easy CD and use Nero 5.5 instead.

I've been told this instruction site all about EZCD and simple menus is pretty good. (humble humble) Check it out.

To Rich, I've been to that site and followed that Easy CD route, and while it works, there are several could-have-beens in it. And this is if while creating your VCD, Easy CD does not decide to give up its ghost in the process or yet again give another error message, ad infinitum. For starters, White Book is a flexible set of specs that allow all sorts of VCDs, menus and interactivity and all, to be created. For example, it's certainly possible (and quite a few commercial karaoke VCDs do this) that on inserting such a VCD, the first thing displayed is the menu page. No start-up sequence, not even a clip, but just a still MPEG detailing the menu choices. Yet Easy CD resolutely refuses to allow one to create an interactive VCD without first a start-up sequence. Why is that? The example in said webpage suggests using a bonafide MPEG track as menu. That is okay, but what we're all after here is using AN MPEG STILL!! NOT a VCD- compliant MPEG TRACK!! We would all like TO USE A HIGH-RES STILL MPEG IMAGE FOR THE MENU!! Few seem to get this! As those who will have tried have become aware of, Easy CD doesn't know, or refuses to acknowledge the existence of still MPEGs as catered for in the White Book specs that have even been detailed in Easy CD help. Paradoxically, Easy CD even gives choices for the resolution of the still MPEG intended for the menu page 352x240/288 or 704x480/576. We are however, left in the dark about where to get such an MPEG still, let alone how it can be high-res. I struggled for quite awhile before I came to know what I know now, and in this regard, WinOnCD and VideoPack have been very helpful. It's just a sad day when Adaptec, which now owns both, will finally decide to kill them to allow unstable, kvetchy Easy CD to rein supreme. We want high-res 704x480 and 704x576 still MPEGs, please! Not another VCD-compliant MPEG track. We already know those...

Is anyone knows how to record existing VCD file into another CD. One of my MTV VCD has some corrupt files so I decided to copy it into hard drive and then transferred it into a new CD using EZCD creator. I couldn’t get it to play in my DVD though. I also tried to copy from CD to CD but it doesn’t work. Please help, Teck.

USE NERO 5.5 TO BURN VCD

Eacy Creator 5 produces more coasters when burning VCD's..... I'm giving up..... I can't even copy a VCD and play it on my DVD.

I'm not an expert, but one would think a simple copy of an existing VCD that works should be no problems. This blows.
