Arse Kicking Match Day thread

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Just getting it started for those not going to the match. Anyone else gonna be on the webcast later? I'm taking off from work early to listen

Completely off the topic but it has to be said. Homemade choc chip cookies are one of life's great pleasures. :-9

Just sitting here munching the one's my friend's mum left for me last night as a little thank you for cat-sitting. mmmmmmmmmmmm!

Can't be here...mid afternoon here and am stuck at work. Sing a song for me.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

I may be listening to the webcast later.

What time is kick off?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Kick off is 7.45, I'll be there. Seems like no channel is broadcasting the game, at least I cant see it here in Sweden. Canal Plus who usually broadcasts many PL games shows shitty AIK vs Djurgården (where Teddy S played a long time ago).

I dont really know if i dare to listen to the webcast, I think we will be raped.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Yes I'm not sure I want to hear hollow screams around St James' followed by eary silences, followed by nervous whimpering.

Mind you that could be said before many matches this season.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Sudden - doesn't Djurgården translate as AnimalYard. Strange name for a football team or what?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

I'm popping up to St James' and coming straight home after the game. Not too optomistic about the score, but you have to live in hope. I've a feeling that if we lose these last two games , then BR will be anouncing his retirement from the game at the end of the season (despite what he says), which would be a great shame as there is only one man in the country that could do a better job .... and he dosen't get on with the current board of directors.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

SellElena: Yep it means. And yes, it is a very strange name. But suites the shitty team well i think.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Sudden - Is Andreas Andersson still playing for AIK? If so, how is he getting on?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

I'll be online later, tho I probably won't have access to the webcast. Therefore, I'll be depending on you lot in far off lands keeping me up to date.

Ooooh - hang on. My Aunty says she will be broadcasting the match live on R5 so I will be able to update you lot before thee webcast catches up with proper radio.

Barton, linked with a player-coach role at Crystal Palace, once supported the Gunners from the Highbury terraces and his last goal for United was against them a couple of seasons ago.

"I'd love to score again - last time my goal spoiled a record of nine or 10 clean sheets for them," he said.

How many clean sheets has he spoiled this season? Like 30?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

That's a rather personal question. Probably have to ask his wife. ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

And once again, no Metro at the advertised time. They must still be looking for the S*******d link.

Just in case they don't figure it out in the next 10min, the Arse webcast is on: http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist.dll?id=144415

If that doesn't work, go to the web page and click the link: http://www.arsenal.co.uk/radio_arsenal.htm

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Those Lahndahners speak a bit quickly, but it sounds like our starting lineup is:

Given, Barton, Dabs, OBrien, Hughes, Solano, Speed, Bassedas, Quinn, Cort, Gallacher

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

How are we doing?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Haven't given away any goals yet :-)

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Thats a good thing! Fingers crossed it continues

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Had about 2min of possession then realized our mistake and gave the ball to Arse. ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Hmmmm....I missed something in the starting lineup. Glass is playing. I guess in the place of Quinn. Makes sense

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Hughes seems to be doing well. Just had a nice break with Glass but Keown got the ball off him, gave it to Bassedas to Barton to Solano....who had no one to give it to and then lost it

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Solano cross in to Cort, but Cort not quite in the right position to latch onto it.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Speed header just wide

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

This is just after Barton gave the ball away and Arse nearly had a scoring chance. Fortunately Viera wasn/t expecting the ball and fluffed it.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Does sound like we're doing pretty well though. Lots of possession and managing to get forward occasionally

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

metro is on

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Vieira is the best in the world but at the moment he isn't as good as Speed. Obviously fog on the Tyne

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Ah here. I little bit late, how are we doing?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

0-0 which we all agree is a good thing!

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Line up? Glass is on i heard. Hughes playing?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

looks liek 14 red and whites against 11 black and whites, only a matter of time till Arsenal score

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

See above, Sudden. Except Glass is playing instead of Quinn

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

The longer we keep it at 0-0, the less time they have to score goals. ;-))

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Glass cross...Cort headed 'just wide'!

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Cort just wide, when he should have scored, fabulous Glass cross

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

So Speed is up for it against Viera so why can't he do it against other teams? Tale of the season really!

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Ah I see. Phew, close one there...

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK!!

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

As long as we play Leeds, MoanU and Arse every week, we'll win the league! ;-)))

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Make that...play them at home every week. Not so much with the aways....

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Cort just wide again. COME ON NOW!!!!!! SCORE!!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Big time Charlies?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Hello peeps. Sorry I'm late. Bliddy meeting at work :-(

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Hope this time I'm hearing the good result!

Haway Sudden! Remember me?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Welcome aboard!

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Cort winning lots of headers! Now if he can just put a few away.....

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Hearing something like a panic at Arses defence???

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Yeah - sorry. But I had to go see my boss.................

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

..........to try to negotiate another ttip to your side of the pond Ciara.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Ref seems to be having a good game encouraging the low of play.

Not sure whether that's a good thing!

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Sudden my man! I'm doing good and how about your wb site? Still working on that gamers site?

By the way, i'm listening to the match through Radio-Arsenal it's a shame the NUFC official site didn't pay any enough attention to the foreign supporters who wants to catch-up NUFC games while possible!

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Eddy, Metro is on now. :-)

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Great save by Shay

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Can't get in to metro radio live comm, HTTP Error 404!!!

Sudden, i'm doing my first real web site at http://www.pixel.web.id/ nowadays.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Bassedas getting mentions on Metro. Not many in the last 20min or so, mind.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Eddy, that's cause they've gopt the link coded weird. I think it only comes out weird if you're using Netscape. You have to c & p the right part and stick it on your RA player. Try this: rtsp://live-lhr-002.media.globix.net/encoder/simplywb/simplywb_2.rm

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Ah, looks really nice Eddy!

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

The Arsenal subs would walk into our side!

Come on!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

2nd half underway. No changes. Cort's shirt pulled in the area. Ref ignored it.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Experienced defending from DIxon if only our defenders were that sly!

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Or in typical Toon fashion they'd limp into the treatment room! ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Time for Cort to get a bit canny and give Dixon a good nudge in the chops....

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Thanks ciara! Just get back in time to hear Bassedas couldn't react quick enough to anticipate the ball!

Sudden, you like my web site?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Yep Eddy! Your own company?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Cort and...Bassedas have a good game said metro commentator. Any objections?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Parlour clean thru but scuffs his shot wide. Denis not too pleased.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Sorry if covered before - who are wor subs??

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

still very even - but we are not putting on any pressure

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Yep Sudden! You want to make a new look for your web site at the cheap rate of my country's currency?

Meanwhile, we are looks like have a good game according to metro radio, very different opinion with the Radio-Arsenal's version...

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

whats happning boys it's all gone quiet

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Hehe thx, but no thx Eddy. We have our own ppl doing that. Even cheaper I think, the work for games, chips and coca cola =)

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

John Champion (?) on R5 reckons we're still in with a shout of Europe - via the fair play league. No mention of best clappers tho'

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Sudden, if you fancy Alan Shearer's screensaver, you can download it at my NUFC web site.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

I have a bad feeling about this one. We are doing pretty good, creating some good chances and then...Arsenal scores.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

luax2.McGlen.Harper.Ameobi. and one from

Shearer, Dyer, Griffin,

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Arse not playing quite as well as in the first half. We're still doing about the same. Metro figuring we're just shading it right now

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

its John Murray Screacher...idoliser of Daveed Ginola

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Is that spelled Caldwell or Quinn?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Yeah - you're right Pete. Barton nutmegs Cole (teehee) and gets a corner. Nowt comes of it. Bah!

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Quinn me thinks - Glass given a belated chance. Surley Quinn will be second choice next year???

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

I'm surprised Hughes is playing LB. He didn't have a good game there against 'pool.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

....or are we playing 3 at the back with Barton as the roving midfielder??

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

its like listening to a cup tie - 1st div side v a Premier side.

Lacking quality but no lack of effort.

Bassedas at least getting a mention.

Clear problems AGAIN ON THE LEFT - despite Glass it seems that Aaron is struggling going forward. Not a left footer. BALANCE.

SHITE ball from Barton

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Kanu on for Bergkamp

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Happy with nowt nowt????

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Considering we could well have been on the wrong end of another 5-0...I'd be ecstatic with 0-0

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

No - I want a win. Nobby booked. Any more of this and we can wave Europe bye-bye.

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Agree Ciara. 0-0 = clean sheet also.

Arsenal shouldnt press to hard forward, all they need is one point right?

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Seems like Barton is a candidate for MotM................

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Gallacher shot direct at Seaman

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Shola on for Gallacher

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

Gallacher off for Shola

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001

-- Anonymous, May 15, 2001
