Hughes cements place in Order of Merit

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

For talking shite to the fans, Aaron Hughes follows his highly lamentable comments before the Hackems match by churning out the ususal crap about owing the fans something and putting the effort in to cement his place in that elite group of players who have contributed this season including Barton and Speed.

Here you go Aaron read this out, there's a good lad!

Aaron Hughes has warned his Newcastle team-mates that they cannot afford to relax for a second of tonight's Premiership grudge-match with Arsenal. Blah Blah Blah Blah ZZZZZZZZZZZ

Well, he's taking the mantle from O'Brien, Dabs and Barton who have all said the same thing in the past week..

So one mug says it and he has to? nah I didn't think so....

He'll get more respect if he starts talking straight and not off the same script as the rest of them....

and there is Bobby's weekly warning that they are playing for their futures.

I think Bobby has nailed a paper to the wall in the dressing room saying all this crap. Every week theres a lottery who gets to say the shit to the media and fans. This week Hughes "won".

Given, Cort and Barton are on the IC Necastle site with similar durge.

I don't mind as long as they do it on the pitch but so far there has been scant evidence of such!

At least they're making it a team effort. ;-)

At the risk of being shouted at, I'm not sure what the players can really say to us without being seen to undermine the Board (employer), YBR (picks the team) or insult the fans.

Surely it's no-win? If the lads say nowt, they are open to accusations of not caring, and if they do speak up for what they may truly believe they may be fined, dropped from the 1st team or kicked out of the club. I'm as frustrated as anyone with the trite nonsense peddled around week after week, and would rather see any talking done on the pitch. It's all the "we must do better for our magnificent fans" that depresses me...

I won't shout at you, Bobby. It's all true. I'm sure the players themselves are probably not terribly thrilled to have to say this all the time. Probably why we seem to get a different player saying it each week.

Perhaps someone with a lot of time to examine stats (hmmmm...Softie? :-) ) would make a list of Players and their Platitudes to see who has used the most cliched responses after a crap performance. My money's on Gary Speed, but Barton is a close 2nd.

I would lke to see one of the players come out after a bad performance and say "I appologise to the NUFC fans for not performing as I know I can. I would also like to say that I am embarresed by my performance and agree that this week I didn't earn my wages. Therefore I donate them to a local charity and promise to work harder next time i'm selected to wear the Black and white shirt"
