Condom row in South Africa

Complaints about small condoms have little substance There have been complaints in South Africa over condoms being imported from India and China, in particular over their size.

A national survey of prostitutes has revealed that South African men had problems using the standard-size condoms, complaining they were too small.

But Dr Liz Floyd, director of the Aids programme in Gauteng Province, told the BBC that she thought it was unlikely that there was any substance to the complaint.

"We are quite sure the condoms can accommodate them. You can get a condom over your head if you want to."

More than half of the women interviewed for the survey also complained that condoms imported from the Far East burst easily and exposed them to risks of catching HIV/Aids.

Storage

But Dr Floyd said any problems with the strength and reliability of condoms were more likely to be connected to how they are used and how they are stored.

She said that if condoms were not kept in direct sunlight then they should be up to the job.

There have been complaints in the past about the poor quality of imported condoms, which reportedly led to more than four million being sent back a few years ago.

The South African Government has long campaigned to promote the condom, which is an unpopular method of protection, but is seen as a cheap and effective way of preventing the spread of the HIV virus.

But Dr Floyd said training was vital to ensuring that complaints about condoms did not undermine people's confidence in them and serve as a justification for people who do not want to use them.

South Africa has a huge problem with Aids, with 1,500 people infected with the HIV virus every day.

An estimated 200 million condoms are used a year in a country of 40 million people.

When it comes to condoms, size DOES matter.

When your "raincoat" fits more like a shower cap, it's too damn small ;)

I sent this story to a friend, and she replied....

200 million condoms divided by 40 million people equals a big FIVE!!! Five times a year?? get real....

Then I mentioned children and old farts as making up part of the 40 million...

ok, let's say..... for the sake of argument, that children and old farts make up..... oh, let's say 40% of the population......and this is probably being very generous....... 40% of 40 million = 16 million..... ok, so we subtract 16 million from 40 million, leaving 24 million.........ok, 200 million condoms, divided by 24 million people, works out to 8.33333333 per year........ hello? Do you know anyone that can (honestly) actually ACCEPT sex only 8.33333333 times a year? helllllllloooooooo?? That isn't even 1 and 1/2 times a month!!! Am I the only one that knows how to do math??????

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!

Let's do this one more time..... let's say, old farts and children make up SIXTY percent of the population, ok? LOL!!!

60 % of 40 million = 24 million...... now let's take 24 million off the original 40 million........that leaves 16 million people having sex!! lol........ ok, 200 million condoms, divided by 16 million people....... that's still only 12.5!!!! that's barely over once a month! helllllllllooooooooo?? It's no wonder....... that aids is so rampant...... the end result is....... THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH CONDOMS!!!!

rofl!!!
