How to get to training ground?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I'm going to try to get myself along to a training session, but I haven't got a clue how to get there.

Anyone got any directions I could follow?

Also, what are the days and times they train there?

Thanks

Travelling south down the A1 from the Toon, pass the Washington Services area and take the next exit to Chester-le-Street.
Go around the roundabout at the end of the slip-road and under the A1, turning left at the next roundabout heading towards Birtley/Durham (on the old A1, not sure of the new number - A189 perhaps?).
Bear left at the next roundabout, and turn left at the next one, heading towards Houghton-le-Spring (directly towards Lumley Castle).
The Durham County Cricket Ground will be on your right. Turn right at the first roundabout, heading them directly towards the Cricket Ground, and then right again at the next one, bearing around the Ground.
Enter the car park by turining in to the left at the far end of the Cricket Ground, 50 yds before the road ends in a mini-rounabout. The training ground is adjacent to the Cricket Ground.

I believe the players arrive about 10:00-10:30am, but don't usually come out for training until close to 11am. They usually train on Tuesday-Friday before a home Saturday game, and on a Saturday also for a Sunday game.

Hope this is helpful.

.....or just follow the brown tourist roadsigns off the A1(M) to "The Riverside". ;-)b

They usually have Wednesday off. Training starts around 11.00. If you want to catch them going in for autographs they start arriving around 8.45-9.00. They usually go in at the first gate - to get there you turn left at the final roundabout.

I went over to the training ground the other day and thought they were working quite hard. There was, however, next to no banter and you could cut the atmosphere in certain quarters with a knife. I hope this has been sorted out. Nothing of note happened, hence no training ground report.

I find this thread very worrying? I don't know who Ian is. Is he a fan? Or is he our new super signing for the summer? ANd if he is, do we really want to tell him how to get to the training ground.....
