LONDON (AP) -- A Spanair jet skidded to a halt on a Liverpool Airport runway Thursday after its landing gear failed on touchdown, the airline said. All 51 passengers and crew were safely evacuated.
The McDonnell Douglas MD-83 was arriving from Palma, Mallorca, when its right-side landing gear partly collapsed, causing the wing to hit the ground as it landed, the Palma-based airline said in a statement.
