We need a volunteer to act as a contact with girl scouts at Fort Leavenworth

greenspun.com : LUSENET : orienteer kansas : One Thread

I got an email from Ginger at the Fort Leavenworth girl scouts. She is the "service team manager and a cadette level troop leader." There is some interest in setting up a permenant O' course on the Fort Leavenworth map.

What we need is someone to act as a contact to help get the map to her. Any volunteers? If you could act as a contact, post something here or send me an email (meglin@juno.com). Thanks.

This sounds like a job for a retired orienteer! Perhaps we could get one of our recent retirees to fieldcheck (update) the map and plan trim courses. It might be a more profitable and easy place to fieldcheck than other parks in the general area, such as large metropolitan KC parks with zoos and such. There are only some new roads, trails, buildings and vegetation changes to make I suspect.

I think we have someone in the club who recently announced his retirement, but I can't quite think of his name. Anyone remember? It wasn't "Typhoid" Mary. I'm sure of that! Anyone who can reel off a 25:58 SMP Test Loop bid like it was a Sunday walk in the park isn't going to be hanging up the spikes anytime soon.
