Does anybody have an m3 round chrome...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Well, lacking the technical term (this is not my language , I just use it! :) ) I will try to describe it the best I can: It is the round gear that sorrunds the shutter button and that needs to be unscrewed to open the camera. When this M3 was serviced the technician drilled two small holes in order to open it. I tried to fit an M6 one but it is slightly bigger. Does anybody have one for sale? Leica USA doesn' t have any

Thank you

That must really bug you. I had a camera repairman (butcher) badly marr the collar on my M6 classic doing the same thing, and had to get a replacement one for a M6 TTL which is about 40% thinner and not as rounded on the edge as well. When another repair person (another butcher) went to install the new one he put two small nicks in the rewind lever (presumably trying trying to remove the old one) and just fitted the new one finger tight. Of course every now and again it comes loose. I'll have to get the special flexi-clamp tool from www.micro-tools.com to get it fitted properly.

Sorry can't help you with your request; you could try the LUG.

Last year I sent my M3 for an overhaul to Leica in New Jersey and they changed that piece.
