Can't get VCD to Work, Please Help!!!!!!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hello,

I used ati tv-wonder to capture my video into a mpeg file. Then I used TMPGNec to convert the mpeg to MPEG-1, and then I used ezCD creator 4's vcd program to burn my cd. Now my first problem is that though it says that there is 200mb burnt on to the cd I can't find anything on it when I explore the cd. All I seem to be able to find is the VCD set up files which are 2mb a piece. But I can't find anything that resembles a media file. Also should you be able to watch your vcd on real player with out a dvd(meaning with just a regular cd-rom)?

Thanks Jeff

When you say that you can't find anything on your burned VCD, do you really mean that in the literal sense as in blank CD or that there are not *.dat files?

I forget which folder on the VCD that the videos are stored in but the files as created by EZCD are titled music01.dat, etc. (musicXX,...go figure).

After bringing the MPG's into EZCD VCD application did you remember to ADD them to the play sequence (the next step)?

As long as your "regular" CD player in a PC is multi-read compatable (all new ones are) you should be able to play the *.dat (MPG) files in Windows Media Player in Win98+. Ati software includes a VCD player with the TV-wonder.

Not all DVD stand alone players are CDr/CDrw/VCD compatable. Check out the DVD list at vcdhelp.com.

If this is your very first VCD burn don't sweat it. I have a drawer full of costers. Dig into the archives.

If you search for media files dont look for mpegs they aretransformed into .DAT files Look for for .DAT file Windows media player should be able to see these files
