Beardmore Glacier, Sent in by John S.

Beardmore Glacier is located in Antarctica between McMurdo Station and the South Pole. In this particular photo, the cracks, or crevasses, are big enough to drop a house into. The mountains in the background appeared to be close enough to touch, but in reality are over 200 miles away. This is one place you do not want to have to bail out!

[One wonders if this person was one of those airlifted out, huh?]

Great picture.

Just imagine, if those mountains are over 200 miles away how huge they must be in reality. No smog down there (at least yet anyway).
