The EOS 1, 10, 100/Elan and 1000/Rebel all come from the same age in autofocus Canon cameras. I've owned all but the 1 so I'm not sure how it's performance would compare with the 10. The 1 was the professional model and the 10 was for advanced amateurs. The 100 was for most other amateurs and the 1000 was the low end. Very similar to how the 1V, 3, 30, 300 are marketed now.

I would imagine that the 1 is a bit faster at autofocusing and perhaps the metering is a bit better. I believe the motor on the 10 is faster (5fps) unless the 1 has the optional booster. The 1 requires f/2.8 lenses for the central, high precision, cross auto focus sensor to work. With slower lenses all AF sensors are horizontal only. The 10 has three AF sensors and the central one is a cross type and works with lenses as slow as f/5.6

The 10 is the predecessor to the 5 just as the 100 was the predecessor to the 50 and the 1000 was to the 500. The 1 became the 1N which became the 1V.

They are all good cameras but are designed/built for different markets. Their AF systems were good and so was their metering systems. They are also reliable.

The 1 feels heavier & more solid than the 10, which always felt kind of lightweight for it's intended market. I preferred the 100 to the 10 because it has the quick control dial on the back which makes it a bit easier to use. The 100 only has 1 AF sensor and the motor is slower (3fps). The AF on the 100 is a bit slower as well. Neither one offered a vertical grip option, but there was grip extensions made. They are priced about the same on the used market.
