Grid focusing screen is not straight in EOS 3

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I just installed the Canon EC-D grid focusing screen in my EOS 3 and it appears to be slightly crooked. The far right and far left focusing points appear to be out of vertical allignment relative to each other when referencing the center horizontal grid line: The far right focusing point is displayed aproximately 50% above and 50% below the horizontal line, and the far left focusing point is displayed approximately 80% above and 20% below the horizontal line.

So one of two things must be true: 1. The focusing point array is slightly out of allignment, or 2. The grid screen is slightly out of allignment. More likely the latter, I think. (It is possible that both are true)

The grid screen seems to be held firmly in place once inserted and appears the same after re-inserting it a few times. Has anyone had this problem? Is there a way to adjust the position of the screen?

I will have to do some careful tests to determine which display is wrong, and how much so - I would rather have an accurate (level) grid display than a perfectfully level focusing point array, so I hope the grid is right, or at least correctable. Any knowledgable input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Derrick
