Anyone Making VCD's From Fiewire Cards

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I am using Premiere 6 and a DV camcorder to make VCD's but whenever I do the capture the audio is disabled. Why?

Thanks, Cale

If done properly you should have *.avi files on your HDD after capture and these will be most likely the type-1 DV AVI files we all want. If you appropriately have DirectShow, these files can be played by WindowsMediaPlayer and if you do so you can tell whether there is sound or not. Different FireWire cards paired with a variety of capture applications each behave uniquely; in some cases, while capturing, no sound can be heard from the PC. I use an ADSPyro FireWire card and capture with the bundled Ulead video capture app with MediaStudioPro6; there is no sound on the PC, so I monitor from the camcorder itself. But the captured DV AVI files are normal and they have audio so no problem really. An excellent site dealing exclusively with Premiere6 and FireWire capture to S/VCD authoring is www.geocities.com/aussie01au.
