Just wondering if anyone has any information or even better a recent picture of SR 2-8-0 #154 that is listed on steamlocomotive.com as being in Knoxville Tn in Chilhowie Park. Thanks, Eric e_lauterbach@yahoo.com

Locomotive is currently owned by Old Smoky Railway Museum. As long as they own it, is will NEVER see steam again.

Try this one, from the Virtual Railroad site. It should be a good one. http://www.webpraxis.ab.ca/vrr/steam/us/s/pics/154.jpg

The 154 is cosmetically in much better shape under the ownership of Old Smoky but it will never steam again. An inspection in the 1980's reveled much worse rust damage than had been thought. The cap on the stack had rusted through and rain water had therefore rusted out the underside of the boiler/smoke box. She wasn't much of a steamer anyway, very tiny plus she has that shotgun boiler that makes it so miserable for the fireman. It is encouraging to know that she will always be there and is being kept up pretty nicely.

A big "AMEN" to Chris Williams' comment about the Old Smoky Railroad Museum (DEFINITELY AN OXYMORON...with emphasis on the word MORON!). They could not even get a stationary railroad stepstool to operate!
