MAN'S INHUMANITY TO MAN IN POE'S SHORT STORIES

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread

I need to do a research paper on Man's Inhumanity to Man that relates to six of Edgar Allan Poe's short stories. I have already The Tale Tell Heart, The Cask of Amontillado, The Masque of the Red Death and The Black Cat. Please tell me what other stories I can use and where I can find information and criticism on them. Thank you.

Claudia,

You might wish to consider "The Imp of the Perverse" for its element of murder and the perverseness of the narrator's confession. Also, read "Hop-Frog" for its theme of retribution for the abuse of power over a defenseless girl. There is also "The Pit and the Pendulum" and the "The Murders in the Rue Morgue".

Good luck,
