Gen...regarding Job lay-offsgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Current News : One Thread |
Regarding job layoffs in the U.S.Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 a.m. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SING APORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.....AMERICA.....
Keep this circulating.....

I guess this is as good a time as any.Sweetie was laid off on Wednesday morning, no warning, came home almost as soon as he walked in. The company has been making a profit, sales are up, orders are coming in as usual; however, the parent company wants to sell it and it looks better with 25 fewer employees. We figure there will be more layoffs in about two weeks.
I know you all wish us well but the only thing that can help at this point is if anyone has any computer contacts in the Raleigh-Durham area.
We do have plenty of food, cat supplies, and toilet paper :)

Is that NC or SC?

Central North Carolina, reasonably close to Research Triangle Park and Morrisville. The commute to Cary, Raleigh or Chapel Hill is insane but if worst comes to worst. . .

None of the stuff I have at the moment is close by, not promising anything.... but it won't hurt to be keeping an eye out for you....E-mail me a resume as soon as he can brush the dust off it, okay? I'm assuming no interest in relocating...

Thanks, Carl, will do. Nope, I really don't want to move again unless we absolutely have to--we have this house and these cats. . .
