I agree that the Chickasaw Turnpike is a joke. If I remember right, in the late 80's, urban legislators were pushing what are now the Kilpatrick & Creek turnpikes. Rural legislators from southern Oklahoma were holding it up, as they had been pushing for a south-central turnpike for years. At that time, there was no expressway access to Ada, and Ada was the largest city in the state served only by state highways (The US 377/SH 99 multiplex solved that). The two-lane Chickasaw Turnpike is a compromise that allowed the more-needed Kilpatrick and Creek turnpikes to be built.
