What's the coolest activity you ever did at a birthday party when you were a kid?

Well, I don't think this qualifies as cool now, but I remember being really excited when birthday parties included a trip to the roller rink where we'd skate around to the likes of Foreigner, ELO and the GoGos (late 70's into early 80's).

Keli, What a puppy. 70's and 80's? Heck I was deep in the 70 and 80's culture. In fact, that might of been one of my coolest BDs. My family was away on a vacation, and being a rebel, I told them I had to stay and work at KMart. The party ended when my dad came home and took a big swig of OJ that had been heavily spiked with vodka.

My mom did always made me a cherry carosal (sp) cake when I was a little kid. I always looked forward to that.

I threw myself a costume birthday party when I was twelve. My family was not really big on birthday celebrations, and I wanted to do something festive. So, I ordered everyone to show up dressed like rock stars. We had many Madonnas, my friend Hilary showed up as the leader singer of A-ha, my tough-and-super-cool friend Christine showed up as a Bon Jovi fan (bending the rules, of course, but we were very impressed with her teased hair and the fact that her boobs were barely contained in her off the shoulder shreaded sweatshirt) and I was Susanna Hoffs from The Bangles. It was basically just an excuse to wear too much make-up, crank up the stereo, and prance around the family room. It was a blast.

When I turned twelve, my dad took me, my brothers, and my best friend to Malibu Grand Prix. It was a video game arcade, a go-kart race track, and a miniature golf course. I made everyone play enough skeetball to win enough tickets to earn me a tiny stuffed unicron. Then we played golf. It was night, the course was empty, and the fountains were filled with ice. I had a new coat and new folded-cuff high-heeled boots. (Remember those were all the rage then?) I was happy.
