greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have a question. I want to copy a movie of mine onto my hard drive then creat a vcd with it. Now if I use the ati tv wonder they have mpeg-1 capability. Now my question is when I make that vcd will it have to be uncompressed or what and how big a file am I looking at for 65 minutes worth of movies.

thanks Jeff

The ATI Tv Wonder does capture tight mpeg, however after a short while (10-20 minutes) you will lose audio synchronization. If you want to do it in short bursts then combine them in an authoring package (or just a VCD burning package like Easy CD 4) then you might get ok results. There will be a hesitation between tracks. If this is a Personal Home movie and it is important to you to preserve you might want to check out http://www.digital-memorys.com (unless you can get this solution to work). But to answer the compression question, based on your settings in the TV wonder, you migth still need to run the captured Mpeg1 through a convertor (vcdGear.com) to get the right frame rates. Good Luck Jim
