Sent to Coventry?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

According to my mate who lives and breathes Coventry we have had a 'senior' board member at highfield road today. He reckons there is a swap in the offing involving Glass and Harper. He doesn't know who the Cov player/players is but he fears it's Hadji. Lets hope it isn't Bellamy as we know Bob loves him. Also he reckons that on the grapevine he's heard Speed and Griffin are off.

Hadgi, Thompson would be OK but if it's Bellamy I would plead with the board not to give bobby any more cash.

Kindly tell me more about Bellamy. They only thing I know is that he scores a fecking lot of goals against me in Champ Man :o

He's a useless little pr@t Sudden, who has proven to be a hugely expensive mistake for Coventry.
He's a bit like Kevin Gallacher, faster but not as smart - and frankly I'd just prefer to keep Gallacher if that's the Toons idea of upgrading.

Then I'm sure it will be him, just to cheer us up a little bit more.

Swift I don't understand you "Speed may be off" comment, there is an implication taht at some time he was on

The Harper bit's interesting...fits with the Pavel talk and also that Kirkland and/or Hedman may be off.

Harper didn't look happy yesterday - mind you he wasn't the only one! It's not the first time I've seen Speed whingeing about things either, wouldn't be sorry to see him go.

So if Griffin is away does that mean Barton is here with no competition for his place for next season? HELP!

Thanks Cliff!! you've ruined my day and very possibly my whole bank holiday weekend :((

I'll open a vein if that tosser is still playing for us next season...

You just know it's gonna be Hartson...

Didn't Bobby try to sign Bellamy at the end of last season?

-- Anonymous, May 04, 2001

There are a lot of rumours going about that Griffin is off to Villa in exchange for Steve Stone.

I don't want this to happen obviously as Barton may start to get complacent if he has no competition :)

I would hate to lose Harper, but if we got Kirkland or Headman, it would be a decent swap. As for other players that Coventry have, I wouldn't mind Hartson , Hadji or Bellamy , as a swap deal for Speed.

Headman has been touted before as a possible Toon target and I'm sure we'd have no problem getting him if Cov go down. That would be serious competition for Given and I'm sure he'd get pissed off.

I don't want Hadji as he's always going back to play for Morocco and we need a settled side.

At the start of the season someone asked me how well I thought Newcastle would do this season. My reply was, "We'll never win anything with Barton in the side".

With Griffin looking like he's on his way now I hope Robson has some major plans for a replacement. In fact we probably need a left back as well, and a Centre Back.

Christ the list gets longer, should we just buy a new team?

We tried buying a new team when Keegan was here. It nearly worked.

Headman is Hedman I suppose? If so I dont think he'll come here unless we sell Given and he get's to be the no1 choice or at least he will not go to a club where he have to compete like that for the place between the posts.

I can think of many clubs wanting him and I also think he could move almost anywhere if the club is bigger then Coventry and they dont have a goalie like Given who is stable no1. Barcelona, if the rumours are right, is one club I'm sure he'll be happy to join.

I think any of the goalies at Coventry is out of the question. Hedman wont stay if Cov goes down and that leaves them with Kirkland and I dont think they will replace him with Harper, why should they?

All this talk about swapping players are always almost not true. Most transfers rumours arent but the ones including exchanging players with eachother almost never seem to happend.

There is talk that Cov will sell Kirkland, possibly to Liverpool because they can get more money for him apparently.

Then they have to get rid of Hedman too if they go down. He wont stay if they do.
