the club doctors are hopeful he may still be able to make the Villa game, they are going to leave the final decision up to Shearer himself

He was being fitted with protective calipers this afternoon in the hope he might get at least a place on the bench for the Arsenal game.
He is rumoured to be undergoing intensive clapping lessons and may figure at RB before the end of the season, but only if his new calipers can be adjusted to slow him down sufficiently.
