You'd think the guy would be grateful for learning early on that his cat was a dud. Wonder if my kitties would like to join me at work.http://www.boston.com/dailynews/122/region/Man_sues_electric_company_for_:.shtml
Man sues electric company for causing death of 'lucky' cat
By Associated Press, 5/2/2001 08:31
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) A Hatfield man has sued the Massachusetts Electric Company for $250,000 over the death of his pet cat.
Lamar Peoples claims in his suit that the year-old black cat, called Venus Viola, was a ''good luck charm'' and said ''she would have gained me $250,000 had she lived.''
However, following a hearing earlier this week Hampshire Superior Court, Judge Bertha Josephson sent the case to district court, which handles small claims and cases involving less than $25,000 in damages.
The cat was electrocuted in March 2000 by an uninsulated wire near a security trailer on the grounds of the former Northampton State Hospital, according to court papers. Peoples said his wife, a security guard, had brought the cat to work.
The electric company has denied responsibility for the cat's death.

Shouldn't it be the hospital that he is suing? they owned the property and presumably the security trailer.

...and have lost the use of a free security cat.

And her job performance has probably suffered as well....

I know where he can get a free kitten whose parents were excellent mousers.

That definitely was not a lucky cat. Either it didn't have the 9 lives a normal cat does, or it already had used them all up. Tough.

Gordon, that's exactly why I think Venus did Lamar a favor. Now he can go searching for a really lucky cat, one that doesn't fit the previous profile.
