I get it you want to convert the audio portion to *.wav. You extract the *.dat file back to *.mpg with VCDGear. Then you open up the *.mpg in TMPGenc File>MPEG Tools>demultiplex tab so you can get the *.mpv and *.mpa (or *.mp2 or mp3) files. The *.mpa (or *.mp2 or *mp3) files are the audio only files. You then again open the *.mpa in Ulead VideoStudio or VCDCutter or Terran Cleaner, and save or export, finally, as *.wav file. But this is karaoke so you need some mixing to make it sound natural because one channel is voice only and the other is music only. So you again open the *.wav in a *.wav editor (CoolEdit, SoundForge, etc) and mix and match effects to make it sound natural, and viola!, there you have it, it's finally *.wav :)

You can go to http://www.tmpgenc.com/e_enq.html and download the free beta version of TMPGEnc. That version can recognise and open DAT and direct convert to WAV
