Bring back Keegan

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I'm sick of watching this shite, I want to be entertained again. Bring back Keegan, and give MR Robson a new role, such as "Nice bloke to talk with passion about the team on TV"

I hate to say this but you just might be right Rik. I have, and will continue to support Robson through thin and thin, but If we really have got 50M or so to spend, then Keegan did a pretty good job with that last time. I haven't exactly been inspired with Bobby's signings to date and the names that have been mentioned as targets somehow fail to excite me. I hope I'm wrong and he gets us 3 or 4 world class players - Anyway KK wouldn't come back if we begged him!

What I'm desperate for is to be entertained as I remember. Since Dalgish came I can't remember a performance where we truly destroyed a team with total football - even Sheff Wed! If only........

I think KK would come back, and I wouldn't mind getting down on one knee and doing the begging.

Keegan will never come back as long as the two assholes have shares in the club!!!!! And I for one wouldnt blame him.

He would do it for the fans if we pushed hard enough.

BTW Kennyboy, where do you play golf?

I wish i could share your optimism Rik -
Gosforth golf club - down the bridal path - behind the 3mile..

Me and my golfing chums are in need of someone who has a handicap and is a member of Bedlingtonshire golf club, so we can get our handicaps. Not that I am any good like.

As for KK, gotta stay optimistic. I would have settled for Mr Vialli, but for some strange reason he's going to Watford . Can't work that one out.

Ya, bringing Keegan back feels really nice right now. But I think we are in a position when changing the manager a g a i n wont make things better. Think we should sit Robson out and give him the chance. Haven't liked what he has been doing almost this whole season but again, things wont change like that with a new manager.

Robsons job should be to rebuild the squad with young talented players and take in a assistant manager who works with him all the process and then takes over the job in two years. That way the assistant get "his" players and just can continue the work. The assistants name? Peter Beardsley?

HEY KENNYBOY,

Isnt KEEGAN A VERY GOOD FRIEND OF SIR JOHN HALL, again?

Do you really have to like a friends shifty 'damian-like son,' you just dont like, just because he's your mates son?

Did that evil son stop you from buying your mate a pint?

Pick the moral out....................

Kenny, I've already signed up for what must be the longest golf course in the North East, in an attempt to get a bit of exercise. It's OK we'll find someone in the club house to go round with us a few times.

Well If you've allready signed send me an invite Ive never played Bedlington even though I used to live there.

Ill return the favour , seeing as its Bedlington I suppose Football shirts are compulsory :-)

Maybe we could bring Keegan in eventually, but not now.

Stick with Robson. I firmly believe that with Dyer, Shearer and even Nobby in the team, we would have stuffed Southampton last night. As it was, we missed our two most creative players massively.

I wouldn't mind seeing Gary Speed dropped, in place of Bassedas in the middle. This could mean, for the first time in ages, TWO WINGERS in the same team. Although this might be a distant dream of mine, I still can't work out why we play centre-midfielders on left wing.

Not only should we be able to vote for fans' councillers, but we should be able to vote for players that deserve a go in the team. Wadsworth took over for one game, played Glass, we conceded none, Bobby comes back and we let in a goal.

Anyone know whether Glass would have started if he wasn't injured?

the thought of that bloke even managing in the UK makes me ill......

Keegan back? As player or manager? Currently, I'd take either but if it was as manager, I'd want YBR around to keep an eye on things. So, as that won't happen, I wonder what's the largest shirt size they do for next season.

Precisely, what is it you would want BR 'to keep an eye on' if KK returned Screacher?
Player selection? Coaching? Team formation? Tactics? Use of substitutes? Team building? Discipline?

I'm curious.

How about youth development? He could also try to teach Keegan not to be so hot headed, and take the flak from the press when things weren't going too well.

Mind you even if he just stayed a season and got us into runners up spot, by playing entertaining balanced football. I'd be happy.

I really think that he must be sitting in his Wyyard mansion, contemplating his football managerial future. Looking around there's realy only the Boro job, Southampton or a return to Newcastle. What would you fancy doing if you were him?

-- Anonymous, May 02, 2001

None of the above - actually.

-- Anonymous, May 02, 2001

I don't watch the news much , but what's with Vialli and Watford? Surely he can do better than that. Or has Elton john promissed him a hundred million for a new stadium and new players?

-- Anonymous, May 02, 2001

Thre's always Rangers for KK. I think it's quite funny that we have monickers of the two most destructive blerks in United's history on here, Kenyboy & Dan T Smith.

We had a great opportunity to grrom the next manager when we got Booby in. He's un sackable but moveable in a humane way so we needed a manager in waiting. i'd have liked someone from the Keegan era, Vennison, Bez etc. However, I suspect Shearer has already been promised the role.

I'vs said it previously and i'll continue to say it. By far our most important signing in the coming months & years will be the next manager. It must be someone with the patience (and backing) to build up the club as a whole - or at least the playing side of things. It must also be someone who can hack the huge amount of pressure that has seen countless previous managers crack. Much as I love what he did for my club, that person cannot be Keegan RIP. Bring on someone of the calibre of Martin O'Neill or SAF.
