Benefits from former spouse.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Southern Railway : One Thread

I was contacted several years ago and informed that I would be eligible for some benefits from my former husband who was an employee of Southern Railway. I think I am of age not to become eligible but I do not know who contacted me from the Atlanta, Georgia Office.

Thanks

If you are divorced from an employee that is vested in the Railroad Reirement System, you may be eligible for Tier 1 annuity. Generally this is offset by the amount of any Social Security annuity you may receive. Consult with your nearest Railroad Retirement office. They will need to know your former spouses Social Security number.
