What took so long???

...To get them treated, if we 'knew' certain players were having problems?? ARGH! I love Bobby, but this does make ya wonder.
YBR quotes from icNewcastle:

For it was in United's defeat on their visit to The Dell in September that Robson first realised how bad things were. And that they would get worse.

The United boss told me today: "We were very poor that day at Southampton but that wasn't all.

"The season had hardly started yet we already knew that we were going to be without Nicos Dabizas and Carl Cort for a long time because of their injuries.

"And that day I could see that Alan Shearer's knee was not right.

He could not even run. I knew then that Alan's knee would get worse before it got better.

"Kieron was also in trouble. He had a growth and we didn't know what it was. The medical people thought it was a tumour - benign or malignant.

"It was getting bigger and bigger and a crack was developing in the shin. When they finally got it out they found it wasn't a tumour but caused by a stress fracture."

So in September Dyer had this problem, christ that's some way to treat one of England's brightest stars.

Fair play to Kieron for playing on but sometimes they'd be better off getting sensible about things. The medical staff couldn't diagnose a cold.

Same with Shearer. He'd probably be back at full fitness by now had he been sent to Doc Steadman in Sept. For that matter, even Dyer could be close to fitness again. *sigh*

Looking at how much we've missed Dyer in recent weeks I shudder to think what position we'd be in if he was ruled out from September.

Ya, I HATE this shortsighted stuff with the injured players. I they have problems let the rest and treat them. They cant really play at their full capacity when they have some sort of injury. So let O'Brien rest now when we have a good replacement in Hughes.

As I've explained at length on here before, a bone cyst likes YKD's is readily identified by a routine x-ray. It is basically a hole in the bone, and does not require sophisticated scans to diagnose.
Once identified - sinister causes like bone cancer need to be eliminated via blood-tests, and if felt necessary a biopsy.
The vast majority of bone cysts - like my own - are benign and unharmful. However, if the diameter of the 'hole' is large relative to that of the bone, it can weaken the bone and indeed in a worst case situation cause a stress fracture.
In these situations, the cyst must be drained and filled with a bone graft.

I derived all of my information in a one hour search of the internet after having been diagnosed as having the problem. For this problem to have been misdiagnosed and mistreat to the extent that Dyer was allowed to play on until he ultimately suffered a stress fracture, frankly scares the crap out of me regarding the medical care of our playing assets.

Like virtually everything to do with the Club, it is simply unprofessional!
