HELP DESPERATELY NEEDED

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I created a VCD and it works on my stand alone DVD player. However, when I try to open the files on my PC I get an error message that the format is unsupported. I have tried to open the files in iFilm Edit, VCDGear, Premiere, and TMPGEnc and none of them will open or fix them. Can anyone tell me how I can fix these files so I can view them on a PC?????? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

Thanks

The only usable files are those in the SEGMENT and MPEGAV directories; these are named itemxxxx.dat and avseqxx.dat or musicxx.dat. Avseqxx.dat and musicxx.dat files can be be read by Windows MediaPlayer 6++. To do more meaningful work on them like cutting or fixing them, etc. it's best to extract them back to *.mpg by using VCDGear (which only works in DOS mode: for example, you go to DOS screen and type something like VCDGEAR -fix -ace -dat2mpg D:\MPEGAV\AVSEQ01.dat c:\a.mpg.) The avseq01.dat file is now true- blue MPEG-1 stream a.mpg on your HDD that can comfortably be opened by VCDCutter, iFilmEdit, etc.
