I need mp3s to download...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : digital ink : One Thread

Okay, so I have a cable modem now, and I'm trying to put it to good use, downloading mp3s. Too bad I can't think of any. Suggestions? Old stuff or new, doesn't matter.

Depending on what your music tastes are, of course...but I think the following are particularily good mp3 downloads...with a few suggestions of songs, too....

Over the Rhine (Moth, Goodbye, All I Need Is Everything) Dar Williams (It Happens Every Day, If I Wrote You) Massive Attack (Black Milk, Daydreaming, Protection) Tricky (Overcome) Portishead (Glory Box, All Mine, Only You) Beck (everything Beck!!! get it all!!!) Phats & Small (Turn Around) Hypersomnia (Murder) XTC (Dear God)

Ok, that's all I can think of without looking through my files (I'm at work). Enjoy!

Currently, I'm listening to/obsessed with:

"Flashdance II" by Matthew Good Band "Freediving" by Ben Lee "Thinking About You (acoustic)" by Radiohead "My Happiness" by Powderfinger "Heroin is So Passe" by The Dandy Warhols "Commerce, TX" by Ben Kweller

May the obsession continue! :)

I don't do mp3s, but I figure these songs are pretty easy to find:

"As Cool as I Am," Dar Williams "Flying Dutchman," Tori Amos "Polyester Bride," Liz Phair "The Calendar Hung Itself," Bright Eyes "Champagne High," Sister Hazel "I Am a Rock," Simon and Garfunkel

Wow... up until now, I'd known of only one person (well, two, but I knew the second because of the first) who knew who the hell Dar Williams was.

Eric...liked As Cool As I Am, thought the rest was too Birkenrock for my tastes...

I've only met two male Dar fans. One was gay. The other was a forty year-old I ended up sitting next to at the Dar concert at the University of Georgia. I should have tried to count the men in that auditorium. It wouldn't have taken me too long.

how adorable is Dar though? i just want to put her in my pocket.

I know! She tells the funniest stories in concert! She had the whole auditorium cracking up the whole time. If she'd rehearsed the stories beforehand, I sure couldn't tell. She seems so genuine. I wish I could be her pal.
