S/W 4 Video Burn on MACs

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have a A Question... A friend who is using Apple Mac G4 with DVD/CDR burner and Toast Titanium 5.0 software to do the burning and use Mpeg1 compression for the video. This S/w does not let CD Writtable to burn rather it only use Rewrittable CD's to burn (or is there anything we are missing). Seems its a problem with the S/w. IS there any other MAC based S/w other than Titanium which will let us use one time Writable CDr's burn the Video on CDs so that we save on the Cost of the CD's. Thanks in advance for all the inputs. Regards, Kamal

Toast 5 will burn onto CD-R but there is a note in the manual about playing them on diferent DVD players. Some players will only accept CD-RW disk and other like the Pioneer 525 with play back either. Also on that note some players (usually Sony won't playback on either media). If your having trouble with one brand of CD-R try a few others (mine are unlabled but I think there by verbaitamin). One other thing I have found is Toast down samples to 320x240 for PAL video instead of the VCD standard of 352x288 although they still play. One other thing is that there is a update for Toast (5.0.1) which will solve some problems with Apples SuperDrive (which I asume your using) The new update allows you to burn Data DVDs but it may fix your VCD to CD-R problem
