Tim Flowers - A true gent.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

"They are football people in Newcastle and it's a fantastic place. It's a proper football club and the people know the game.

"St James's Park is a magnificent stadium and United are still a magnificent team to play against.

"I've always had a bit of banter with opposition fans and I think that's the best way but the Newcastle supporters seem to appreciate it more than most."

He was giving the fans behind him in the first half some stick....

It might've been interesting to hear what he'd say if we'd had a decent set of fans out on saturday....the atmosphere just gets worse and worse....

Paling into insignificence like the season Gav?

Last time I was at St James was the West Ham match and the atmospehere was very subdued. If we had a run of wins I'm sure the atmos would get better but stillnot anywhere near it should be.

I was there for the Leeds game on Boxing Day and it was a bit more electrically charged but I put that down to a dodgy ref and coming from a goal down to beat Leeds!

Not certain it's just wins that are needed DeB, of course a nice little run of them would help but it seems to me that people are just pissed off with the lack of convincing quality on the pitch...

We just don't look good.....

Saturday, to be fair, was slightly less entertaining than watching Dulux Porcelaine Gloss drying. However, Tim did get a lot of applause from the Gallowgate and tried to start a chorus of "dodgy keeper".

Tim Flowers is a top blerk - one of the few these days who seem to realise that the lumps in the seats are the paying customers who appreciate some human response: unlike the run-of-the-mill egotistical super-stars who have completely lost touch with the fans.

Nice guy. Quite a few of us stayed to applaud him off the pitch and he seemed to appreciate it.
