A Blessed Day

I was in Wal-Mart mid day today and there was an announcement over the PA system that the little 11 year old girl that had been abducted from here two weeks ago had been found alive. She got off a bus in New Orleans, asked when the next bus to Slidell was and the ticket person recognized her. There was a massive effort to find this child, I can't imagine that any one in this area would not have recognized her. She was wisked away to Children's hospital to get checked out and be reunited with her family. Just yesterday there was a huge search by volunteers in the swamps and marshes around here and her case was on "Americas Most Wanted" last night.

When the announcement was made at Wal-Mart several people, me included, got on their cell phones to let people know Lisa had been found. It's truely a blessings this child was found alive, and seemingly okay.

My husband and I moved to this bedroom community from New Orleans last summer and we have been amazed at how safe we have felt here, however, I don't think it's safe anywhere anymore. Right here in the park where we live a young woman was murdered a couple of months ago, by someone she had let in her mobile home and then this little girl being abducted. I still think we are safer here than in New Orleans, but this has been a real reality check for me. This is just another reason that I am glad my sons are grown.

Namaste,

This is indeed wonderful news.I cannot immagine the horror and sorrow someone would experience having their child taken.I think it would make me go mad.I thought the boy had been abducted once, when he didn't come home on the bus.I was frantic calling all over looking for him, including calling Nick at work.I was about to call the police when I thought to call the school on the off chance someone was still there.Someone was.The Detention teacher.Turns out he had detention and hadn't told me. I was so relieved, but he still got a tongue lashing for scaring the daylights out of me!

Anyway, thankfully she's back. And thank you for sharing it with us.

We had a similar experience, a little 6 year old girl lost in the mountains since Sun around lunch time. She had been hiking with grandparents. She was found tonight (tues) seeminly unhurt with chigger bites. WE are so thankful. The community has searched and searched and worried about the possibility of abduction. It was almost unthinkable! Tears came to my eyes when I heard that she had been found.
