Djalminha

DJALMINHA is the latest overseas star to attract the attention of Bobby Robson at Newcastle, according to speculation in the Spanish media. The Brazilian star has been suffering disciplinary problems with Deportivo La Coruna, and this has affected his relationship with coach Javier Irureta.

After being sent off six times in the last four seasons in La Liga, and also picking up a red card during a Uefa Cup tie with Arsenal in that time, the 30-year-old does tend to be let down by his ill temper.

Yet Deportivo are likely to stick by their temperamental midfield genius, as he signed a contract that will not expire until 2005 when interest was shown from Flamengo last November.

Robson has shown a penchant for South American talent and will doubtless be busy in the transfer market during the summer, but Djalminha would appear to be an ambitious target if the reports from Spain prove to be correct.

You're very wise not to believe it, Sudden.
We only have to think for one nano-second about how much Deportivo would want for Djalminha to assess the value in this story.

The reported asking price is about £10 million, which for a 30 year old is ridiculous money and more importantly it hardly fits in with the type of signing Robson makes.
