Glass

Sounds like he did the business again today. WHY don't management like him? Are we going to get anyone better to replace him?

A grudge against him because of his transfer request, Shay Given had better watch out.

He did OK today, without being brilliant. I actually thought he looked well short on confidence - which is hardly surprising, is it?

It looks as though he's going to be shown the door on a FT, and in all honesty it will cost us £5 million at the very least to find someone as good.

Makes no sense to me whatsoever.

icNCL are reporting that Rangers, in addition to Bradford and Blackburn, are now interested in signing Stephen Glass.

You know why he doesn't get a game? He's shite.

Anyone foolish enough to check out the stats thread will notice that we scored a third more points on average in the 18 games Glass started for us in 1998-9, we have won the 4 games that Robson has actually let the poor guy start and he has notched up 3 goals. Hardly shite, and exemplary considering the lack of match practice and fitness which floats around as an excuse for every other player. He'll be sorely missed, especially if we sign AN Other who fails to settle and/or gets injured and Mr Reliable isn't there to be called on.

Glass didn't set the game ablaze but this was a very defensive Leicester and he was prepared to take on his man and move forward, Gary Speed take note, that's forward as opposed to back.

Bassedas on the other hand and indeed the other wing was bereft of ideas and looked meek in comparison.

O Brien & Quinn both had a decent game, O Brien in particular looks a good buy.

From where I sat (NW corner below the away supportes) it was a revelation to see NUFC attacking right in front of me in the first half. With Quinn moving forward to overlap and Glass covering back when necessary, I thought this added a new and much needed dimention to our game. Nobby/Griff/Barton take note.

I agree with Clarky. To get a replacement for Glass would cost a decent amount of money. I'd far rather see YBR ans SG bury whatever hatchets they have and give the guy a chance to prove what he can do. We aren't going to get anything if we sell him. If YBR doesn't want to try to convince the lad to stay, then why bother picking him (apart from increasing our chances of winning)?

As for Bassedas - he hasn't been able to do it out wide left, centre left and now wide right. That only leaves centre right to go. On yesterday's performance, I'd sell Bassedas for whatever we can get and keep Stephen Glass.

He must have really pissed them off.

Maybe hes leaving on a 'Makin'? (Its a bit like leaving on a 'Bosman" , but more fun, and usually involves proving your fitness with a few quick one-twos in the box in a hastily arranged behind-closed-doors friendly).

Sorry Mrs Robson

Oh aye? Ye and whee else, eh?

SORRY. Since I posted that I've felt really really guilty in suggesting that Stephen Glass and Bobby's missus could have got all sweaty in the nettie.

BUT... I just can't get the image of the two of them together out of my head. Could someone with the know-how upload pics of both of them, just so I can convince myself that its just not possible?

Cheers!
