Outfoxing the Foxes Match Thread

Haven't heard the full starting lineup yet. Glass definitely starting and Speed is captain. Does this mean Hughes ahead of Barton?? Or is it just Speed getting the honor as this game gives him the record as player with most starts in the premiership.

A sunny cool morning in Baltimore. Highs up to around 68 this afternoon. Perfect. :-)

Off to make some toast before ko.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

hmmm....Radio Leicester seems to be doing news rather than match coverage.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Team, no surprises:

Given
Barton DAbs O'Brien Quinn
Acuna Bassedas Speed Glass
Cort Gallacher

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Oooo look! My own thread! :-)

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Griffin injured right?

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Yup. Wonder why Hughes is left out again? Haven't heard who our subs are, so dunno if he's on the bench.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Hoooooooo

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Glass shot just over, Acuna just missed. Getting close. Come on lads!!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Hey there Gus! HOw's things down under?

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

I know there are only three of us, but thats a bit personal!!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

C*ck.up have corrected the error FINALLY!!!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Hee

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

This must be the lowest turn out for a webcast.

Where is Syme, PiC, hiro? We know where the tag team is and can only guess about Sting, min, TM and the others in Sydney.

Although we seem to be on top there does not seem to be the passion. Maybe it is the away commentators we have to listen to!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Thanks Deb!! The Leicester webcast was talking entirely too much about Leicester players. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Afternoon all, glad to have the webcast up and running, although they sound like Aliens!

After doing the sensible this morning and getting the lawnmower sharpened I now get back to basics with listening to the Toon.

Come one lads!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

I just fear it's our usual starting off brightly, spurning our chances and wind up regretting it when the other team gets a jammy goal in the last 5min.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Thanks Deb.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Hello from Belgium. After Sunderland- Southampton, and then lots of phones beeping, I've got the NUFC web broadcast again - we need to all send in a strong complaint to NUFC, especially considering the last apology when they said that they had taken steps to make sure it would never happen again, and then it does just a few weeks later. Anyway it sounds like we didn't miss anything in the first 20 minutes.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Hi there, The Dane is here !!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Well that seems to have worked Ciara, we flushed out another 3 lurkers, they must have alarms on their machines which picks up smutty entries. Oooooeeer M/S?

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Gus, I just turned on !!!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Welcome Vatos now we are the magnificent 7

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Hi there, Ciara and Gus. WHAT is the official site PLAYING AT ????

Back on now but what a mess. Thanks for the temp. address. You're a doll!

THAT WAS CLOSE...cleared off the line..

val.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

I go off to make more toast and Gus is here turning Val on. Hmmmmm....

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Good to see everyone! :-)

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Have to stop counting now otherwise I will have to take my shoes off.

Hey val!

You must have read about Mrs gus being OK, but I bet you cannot imagine what happened next.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

So we've got the irresistible force of our longest run of no blank sheets up against the immovable object of Leicester's longest losing streak. Who is going to give way this afternoon? With the pressure we're exerting, I think the irresistible force is going to come out 2- 0 with goals from Cort and Acuna. 8 in a row for Peter Taylor at the beginning instead of the end of the season would have had him working full time for England.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

As an England fan I do not know if that is good or bad barry.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Hi gus, yes I did and posted to you both....so happy for you both.

What happened next ??????

val.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Bobby 'on club business' in Holland today???

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Is Bobby not there ???

Club buisness ???

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Bobby Robson not here!!!!!!

Who is he looking at in Holland this afternoon, we must be close to making a signing in the very near future. Is it Sikora?

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

She took the following Friday off to take her mum to get some tests done.

Rang me at 1230 to say she was at the local hospital. Her mother has bowel cancer.

They operated the next day. Sue spent the next week with her mum in hospital. Mother came out Wed after Easter. Moved in with her mum from last Wed until tonight when she moved home!

I'm living in a soap opera!!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

He's probably gone to get a face to face scouting report from wor Stevo!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Oh wow, Gus! Hope Mum is doing ok now.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Sounds like Tim Flowers is the only person keeping Leicester in the game

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Glass seems to be having a good game today. If we don't score soon this game is going to go the way we fear it always would!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Best wishes to you all, Gus.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

ALl over them come one lads!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Oh ffs...wide open net and Cort shoots wide. We've GOT to get a goal before HT. COME ON LADS!!!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Yep, they took out about 12" of upper bowel and they got it before it had a chance to seep out through the bowel wall.

I did tell Galaxy privately, I dare not put it on here as people may have thought I was taking the mickey and looking for sympathy.

Not that I think that would happen of course, but it was just so unbelievable that all of that could happen in such a short time!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Oh, darlin'....what a horrendous series of events. No, I didn't know.

Hope mum-in-law's operation was successful. Lots of love to Sue again.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Back to football, Flowers is having a Given!!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Is he ever !!!

It can't last.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Cort booked for wearing a black and white shirt while playing football.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Sounds like we should have been comfortably ahead by now. I'll be back later - the weather has turned out very good this afternoon so I'm off to play football in the garden - I got some FM cordless headphones for Christmas and I can plug them into the PC, and they've got a long enough range to go outside, so I'll still be listening in. I am still betting on 2-0 - Leicester sound as if they haven't got a clue.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

He is lucky, I think it has nearly been a capital offence in the last 3 seasons!!

Off to stretch the ah ........legs, me bums num

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Who is on the bench?

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

What a great gadget, Barry! Didn't know such things existed. Sounds very handy. :-)

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

No idea, DB. With our webcast fooked and Leicester doing news right up until kickoff, I never heard a full announcement of our squad

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Half-time.....they are doing everything..from the sound of it..but score.

HOWAY FOR THE SECOND HALF !!!

Please excuse, as always was, it takes me FOREVER to type and post and refresh and I keep getting somewhat behind all you twinkle- fingers.

But I'm here in Hong Kong - as is Fifties Fan again and hoping for that Toon Army ROAAARRRRR in the second half.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Just heard that advert. I thought he'd told his mum that he'd signed for the Mackems.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Evening All!!

Doesn't sound like I've missed much. Would say I've just been round the neighbours for a feed and a few cold ones but it it sounds to much like a horrible soapy!!

Are we going to win this one??

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

This may be a stupid question but FF wants to know how everyone gets Real Player on the official site AND be able to have the thread on at the same time.

The only way we can do it is sit next to each other - FF has the commentary on his and I'm on the BBS. Or do you just flash backwards and forwards....beats my tiny brain capacity.

Probably simple....but if anyone can be bothered - can you tell us how in the break, purlease. Ta.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Afternoon all, just managed to get on the board, bloody internet!

Sounds like we're all over them but not making it pay, sounds familiar!

And what's this about Bobby being in the land of the windmills on 'business'? Who do we think he's looking at/signing? Seedorf anyone?

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Val, the web cast that runs in Real Player will continue to play in the background even if you have a web browser open. This allowing you to listen and post at the same time.

You do get 'net congestion' every now and then tho'

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

If you use Explorer, go to the official site and start the broadcast. Click on the minus sign to reduce the window.

Then change the page you are looking at to the bbs. The real player page does not have to be on screen to work

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Val Open Int. explorer twice. Run real player on one minimised and run the BBS on the other.

Hope this helps

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Val and FF - all you need to do is open a new window. If you've got Internet Explorer, go to the top left corner, click File, then on the menu click New , then Click Window. Then you can open up this site, while you still stay on Real Player. In fact you can even just switch out of the nufc.com and go directly to the BBS, as long as you keep the Real Player on in its own window (which starts up itself in a new window). I hope you get the idea.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

How is Bassedas playing?

A good run in for him could help next season

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Got all that Val?????????

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Now metro is saying they've heard he's in Bedlington????? Where is Bobby and why isn't he at our match?

Val, is your internet connection jamming if you try to run a browser window(for the bbs) at the same time as Real Audio? Older computers can have problems. Also if you've got a slow dial up connection you might not be able to run both. If not either of those problems, just leave Real Audio in the background and open a browser window on top of it.

BTW, when I did have a really slow internet connection(constantly when I lived in Boston!) I found I could only be on the bbs if everything else was closed down. Also, I couldn't surf around the bbs. Just open the matchday thread and keep refreshing it. I still keep websurfing to an absolute minimum because my PC still freaks out if I get too much running at the same time.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Big Dunc has just equalised for Everton.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Non-footie...ignore me and concentrate on willing the lads on.

THANKS,WONKEY. I'm going to try it on mine, while listening to FF's on mine.

Off I go.

crowd bliddy quiet....wish I was there...I shout me head off just from the excitement of being home with 52,000 plus Geordies around me and the lads in front of me.

But then I was daft enough to do that in the Seventies when there was precious little to shout about most of the time !!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

MIDARSE repoting that he will be in Holland watching Sikora

Believe that if you will

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

YAY BIG DUNC!! Wonder if he ripped his shirt off to celebrate this week? ;-))

Bassedas nearly scored for us...guess he's doing ok. :-)

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Afternoon all? Have I missed owt?

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

While we are waiting for the goal, where is the score update site for the EPL?

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Tons of spurned chances by us, Speeds whinging at the ref, Cort being booked for wearing black and white.

Typical Toon match. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

See how SLOW I am....

Thanks to all....wotta lovely bunch you all are.

A goal HAS to be coming soon...they are trying, aren't they ?

Flamin' FF has just said "Why do I think they are not going to score today ?"

Well, I DO !!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Bring Luax2 on I say!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

I listen to Sky Sports and they aren't talking so much about the magpies, who's on top? Heard we started out very well...

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Now all I can see behind Flowers goal is someone table dancing!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

We are all over them Sudden, we have had shot after shot either saved by Flowers or placed wide. We have had corner after corner after corner.

I think they have been in our half about 6 times this half.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Hey that's nto a bad idea. Might distract Flowers long enough for us to score. Get up there and get busy, jay! Your team needs you!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Shola on...COME ON!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Then what are they wating for?? SCORE A GOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Santa Newcastle strikes again. Helping other teams break unwanted records.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Be funny if Barton scores today.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Hopefully we will not extend our own misery.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

As funny as going home and finding out your family have all become mackems

My mother has become a mackem! :o( Just to wind mne up !

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

At this point I'd be really amused if the ref scores...as long as it's for us! ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Will be behind the goal in person on Tuseday night look out for me on SKY I'll be getting kicked out for dancing :o)

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Night all, well I will be in a better mood the morn. Don't care about the other results. 3 for us is always better than anyone else losing.

That is just the icing on the cake.

Another superstition started by Jay. The Southampton match will be televised. How will she get her table into the ground?

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Glad for Shay that we've kept a clean sheet, he deserves it!

3 points, cracking way to start a Saturday evening!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Adios amigos.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

See you all soon

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

We're back up to tenth. I'm not going to tempt fate on here but if you get a quiet moment tonight have a look at where we could be with victories in the games in hand. Ssssshhhhhh!!

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Heh....my SaturDAY is just starting. Only noon here. Off at 3pm for some shopping, sightseeing and drinking. For once heading out in the sunshine with a big smile on my face. :-)

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

So : One record goes (much relief), and the other record is broken - 8 losses in a row for Leicester. What a time to score too! And we're getting back up to near the top half of the league. Be back with you on Tuesday.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

LOL, DeB. Only time table talk seems to be a major jinx is during matches. 10th now! I'm getting dizzy! %-)

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

It's only because of my repeated pessimisms and moans that I managed to help the lads to a late win...right Val?

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2001

Yes, my beloved.

I'm sure we're all suitably appreciative.

(Next time, can we listen in different rooms now we've got the 'technicalities' sorted out !!)

With thanks again to Wonkey, gus, hiro, barry and ciara.

Sadly, tho' it's on SKY in UK, it's not out here in HK. Hiro, are you getting it...(if you get my meaning, nowt personal like :-))))..na'night.
