the daily mail/soccernet seem intent on getting dyer sold off. I hate the way they dribble on like its a foregone conclusion that the 'elite clubs' are going to buy him. its crap journalism. the chronicle has this pathetic 'isn´t it great' tone as well, as if its something quite positive. i´m just waiting for houllier to say in public that liverpool has more girls...

quote chronny "all the talk among Leeds Irish players was how O´Leary wanted Dyer"

mind you he´s going to need a new midfielder when Bowyer does porridge...

What pisses me of about this 'elite' talk is on what grounds can you call other certain clubs 'elite'.

1. Who is more elite than the second biggest club in the country - obviously- bar the first?

2. Who bar Man Utd has followers who attends better, pays more money out than the Newcastle United followers in general?

Then if the press cant answer the second question, why do they market lessor clubs (the likes of Arsenal, yeah they have a better football team but their fans DONT attend better OR pay out more; Leeds, oh yes they are a bigger club SATIRE; Liverpool again there fans dont attend better, and but pay just as much),as elite, stabbing the hard attending toon fans in the back in the process. We ARE part of the elite two(nevermind the elite 4), reinforced even better despite the toon having a poor season. Yet why do the DAily Mail seem intent on glamourising Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, in front of the toon?

Have I really shown the clever bias of the press?

Dyer has got dodgy legs , sell him for 20m while we can .

Hopefully Leeds will sign Phillips and won't be able to afford Dyer. This Phillips thing will also take the gossip away from Dyer.

The Daily Mail seem intent on making a name for themselves with their inventive journalism. Dyer has said he wants to stay!!

United to wait for cut-price Dyer By Ian McGarry

Manchester United will not pay the £20million Newcastle are demanding for Kieron Dyer and are prepared to use the new transfer system to get their man more cheaply if necessary. Dyer could soon be joining Gary Neville at Old Trafford (StuForster/Allsport) Newcastle have turned down an initial offer of £15m from Old Trafford for the England international but the newly-crowned champions will not increase their offer by more than £2m.

However, should no agreement be reached before the ratification of the transfer rules this summer, Newcastle could face a situation in which they could lose their prize asset for markedly less.

Under the revised regulations which have been formed in conjunction with the European Commission, Dyer's price could drop by as much as 40 per cent of his club's valuation if the fee went to arbitration.

FIFA is due to rubber-stamp the new system at its annual congress at the beginning of July. Once it becomes law, the cost of all deals will reduce and there will be an end to clubs demanding huge fees based purely on subjective criteria.

If the clubs fail to reach agreement beforehand, Dyer would have to indicate his desire to leave St James' Park - something which he denied this week - before the governing body might be called in to mediate.

United are prepared to aid their cause to recruit the 22-year-old midfielder they see as a natural replacement for David Beckham by offering him assurances that he would not be making the move just to sit on the bench. Despite the obvious allure of joining the best team in the country, Dyer's options, should he decide to leave Tyneside, would also include Leeds.

Manager David O'Leary is a great admirer of the man purchased from Ipswich for £6m. But, having failed to land Dyer at the start of the season, O'Leary's chances of success this time would be dependent on Leeds playing in the Champions League next season.

Newcastle were warned last night that Dyer's departure would trigger an expensive backlash.

Mark Jensen, editor of The Mag fanzine, said: 'I've heard people say that they won't renew their season tickets if Dyer goes. Some will be saying that in the heat of the moment but the club wants to tread very carefully. Fans will not put money in if they're being taken for granted.

Dennis Taylor, of the Talk of the Tyne fanzine, added: 'There would be an outcry if Dyer left.'

5-Live also crowed about how great a player YKD would be for the Red Weevils...and seemed to make up a quote about him staying only to the remainder of his contract (3 yrs). I thought he said he was happy here and wasn't looking to leave? Oh yes, London cockney red bias...that's where I left it :-)

Dyer has said something in the past about seeing out his contract at this club. So unless he signs a new contract we'll be forced to sell him in two years time anyway, or let him go on a free the year after.

Oc course this could all be irrelevant if the new transfer system means no transfer fees or severely reduced ones. But why would Manure pay £19 mill for Ruud Van Winkle if they thought they could get him for half that in the summer?
