Bask in Gary North's computer wisdom

Quoth Gary North, on his new, improved Web site:

Autoresponders are "sitting in plain sight" because they are offered as free bonuses by most Web hosting companies. Few Web site owners know how to use autoresponders in their businesses. Autoresponders will eventually change the way that just about everything is sold. This site is where you get a head start on your competition.

Hey, Gavin! How've you been doing?

Man, I haven't been NEAR Gary's site since January, 2000, but I did so in response to your post.

Hey, a man's gotta make a living, doesn't he? I guess he's finally tired of the gloom and doom thing. :)

(But what happened to the Evil Chinese? I thought they were the next threat ...)

I'm doing OK, trying to get through final exams, second semester at Arizona State.

Well, North had his original site through some time last month, then changed it to say "this is an archive of my old site for historians" with a link to his original site, and now this.

GN is quite an enigma. I don't know whether to be amazed that he seems to be proud of his past or to admire his guts to keep it in the public domain.

He's been wrong so much, though, that I wouldn't trust him if he said water was wet.

I just went to his site and used the search function to look up Y2K. Oddly enough, it said "no documents containing the phrase 'Y2K' are on this site. My how things change...

In typical north fashion, der gare has covered his tracks well, while still observing "the letter of the law". If you type in www.garynorth.com/y2k you will see his original ramblings and wrong-doings on y2k. if. Most won't. He promised to leave his y2k site intact for history's benefit (??? LOL!) but he never said it would be easy to find. So he simply excluded it from his search dB. Simple. Just like der gare. Simple.

Ed, I have a question: Why are you now over here on this side of the fence, poking fun of Good Ole Gary? I bought your books (who might know more than real programmer?). Gary only read what you supposedly "experts" put out. I have reams of printouts from many sites on many supposedly computer experts who stated they could not ensure what would happen at the roll over. A whole generation of computer "expert" imbeciles. Glad you don't do my car repairs. Now, I have defended your "alert message" more than once, but I will not stand still while you put down the messenger, to which you and your kind ,sent the alert. Without going into my library, I seem to remember the introduction of you and your Daughter's book. The word "imagine", and electricity not working, nor ATM's etc, yada, was in your book. Am I wrong? So get off dis'n Gary. What glory does it give you? Who is the fool, and at fault? The car mechanic who lies about the needed repairs? or the innocent smuck who just needs their car to get to work? Your choice, you decide.
